John Haughey @JFHaughey58 · 1h Deliberations begin Tuesday morning at the E. Barnett Prettyman U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C., in Michael #Sussmann's trial for allegedly lying to the FBI about the #Trump Organization's purported ties to a Russian Bank
There will actually be 16 jurors seated during the trial with four not knowing that they are alternates and will not be "in the room" when the case goes to the jury for a verdict.
Lengthy discussion regarding the infamous #SteeleDossier ...former British intelligence agent Christopher Steele cannot be compelled to testify so the dossier will enter the case tangentially in testimony from several witnesses, including #FusionGPS employee Laura Seago.

Algor asking Elias to explain how attorneys bill clients. Long discussion because timesheets are evidence in this case. “Lawyers in private practice, you have to account for every six minutes of time throughout the day,” he said.

Elias delivering a jovial chatty performance on the stand. Peppering his testimony in response to prosecutors with blasts from the past: like the time Trump asked Russia to release Clinton’s emails.

On July 29, 2016, Sussmann billed the Clinton campaign through Perkins Coie for 5.3 hours of work on that day, $4,455. He cited work on “a confidential project” that included a 4:30-5 pm meeting with “Elias and others.” #SussmanTrial
How will the msm continue to push the Russia hoax now?

Elias on Rodney Joffe: “My understanding was that he was the person who found - discovered - whatever the secret connection was” between Alfa Bank & the Trump org.
Lunch break
Uh Oh, Elias...”I dinnit do nuffin’ wrong...it was Joffe”
Will it work?
Tenths of hours!

After Tuesday’s deep dive on the intricacies of the Domain Name System (DNS) and Wednesday’s foray into the exciting world of attorney billing practices, not sure the jury — or the media — is awake at the moment. This is thick stuff.

The government is presenting exhibits showing that Sussmann billed the Clinton campaign in August 2016 for a meeting he had with Rodney Joffe

Elias said Sussmann told him of the Alfa allegations and he began sharing with people in the Clinton campaign “sometime in the second half of August.” #SussmannTrial

The government is showing a billing entry to the Clinton campaign from Sussmann dated 9/17/2016 for about $4K for “multiple telephone conferences” and other communications with experts and Marc Elias. Elias says he does not know if it related to Alfa Bank.

Elias is not 100% sure when he learned Sussmann went to the FBI about the Alfa Bank matter. But he thinks it was right afterwards.
“If Mr. Sussmann wanted to deal with the FBI for the campaign, he wouldn’t necessarily have to come to me first,” Elias said.

Algor finishes questioning Elias. About 90 minutes of wading through syrup. Last question was: “Did you have the discretion to direct Fusion?” Answer: “Yes.”
At $840/hour I’d be keeping track of every minute too. What a bunch of crooks!

“Donald Trump was a bully who used litigation as a tactic,” Elias says.

Sussmann’s lawyer asks: Was Alfa Bank a primary focus of his legal work?
“Not relative to the large number of topics I was dealing with,” Elias says.
Elias says the campaign would have benefited from a story about the alleged secret comms between Alfa Bank and the Trump Org

Sean Berkowitz is pointing out the Sept 17, 2016 billing statement to Hillary is not “task-based,” meaning it does not break down how much time was spent on particular calls or tasks.

Elias said after the Russians hacked the DNC in spring 2016 and before the Democratic convention in late July, the Clinton campaign officials felt they “absolutely were” under attack — and Trump was egging it on.
No wonder the corrupt FBI wouldn’t do a forensic audit on the DNC servers.
Or, investigate Seth Rich’s murder.
Makes sense, right Mr. Podesta?
