Stocks fell Monday as the market struggled to rebound from a relentless sell-off that’s punished tech stocks and pushed the S&P 500 to the brink of a bear market.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 141 points, or 0.4%. The S&P 500 fell 0.6% after the benchmark nearly fell into a bear market last week before a Friday rebound. The Nasdaq Composite was down 1%.

The S&P 500 is down 16.4% from it's ATH in January, after adjusting for dividends.

I tried adjusting for inflation but encountered problems. LOL

Unreal. I was hoping to go into semi retirement in October and start lightly tapping my 401(k). I’m so sick of doing project management I could scream. I guess that’s on hold for a while now. This sucks

I retired at the end of 2019. The plan was to pad my TSP for 4 more years in a Trump economy.....instead my TSP is for the time being just a savings account.

I bailed out of the S&P around February.

If I didn’t know better I’d say a person or persons are making every effort to inflict as much pain and suffering on the American people as possible.......but that can’t be.....can it?

A crash today wouldn't take the Buffalo shooting off the front page.

Under normal circumstances I’d buy the dip and ride the market back up but that strategy is less certain when the president is a dip.

Agree. Plus there’s the fact that the Shiller PE at 31.1 is still 20% higher than the 20-year avg.

Just added two years until I retire. And I’m with you, I am a PMP and I can’t stand it. Side note, I was one of Trump’s PM’s on the Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, doing the IT infrastructure.

Ate yeah brother, I do IT infrastructure. I’ve learned that project management is a total sucker deal. Nothing but canon. All we do is inherit somebody else’s disaster and it’s the PMs fault every single time something goes wrong. I’m done with it!

I have a master of science and IT project management, graduate certificate and IT project management, all the required certifications PMP, agile, scrum master, ITIL etc. I freaking hate it. I just want to drive a parts delivery truck and make 40 K a year anymore.

Something goes wrong, blame the project manager.

My AMD stock was up over $3 today at one point but closed at a .88 cent loss at $94.24
All the many stocks I look at were in the red for most of the day.

AMD wants to go higher especially after a great quarter but there is always a external reason like the large interest rates hikes or China or Russia news or our congress’s insane spending.

I’m predicting the S&P 500 to drop a total of 30% before I buy back into equities. And that’s if it reaches that point soon (in a month or two). It dropped 30% quickly in 1987 (3 months) and 2020 (1 month) and immediately reversed and made nice gains. But in dropped 49% slowly in 2000 (March 2000 to fall of 2002) and 56% in 2008 (Oct 2007 to March 2009) before it started making gains.

Tesla will vote for a stock split either in early June or August. I am thinking of buying shortly before and hope it repeats what it did a few years ago. It almost doubled then went up from about $400 to $1,000. I am hoping to double but will settle for 50% profit : )

The last time was August 2020 and it split 5-1 and when they announced the split the stock went up from about $1,300 to just over $2,000 in just 3 weeks. It had started to rise quite a bit prior to the announcement.

Once it split it was up to $1,000 by January. It did not do much of anything and dropped a few hundred last year till earlier in this year but has since dropped quite a bit due to Elon Musk wanting to buy Twitter plus problems with his Tesla cars.

Too funny. I want to stock shelves at CVS, teach a couple of courses as an adjunct professor and when not doing that, fish. I also have ITIL, Agile, CSM certs. I gave most of it up to do ITIL and process oversight. Every time I am asked to do a project, I tell leadership I will only do it if the team reported directly to me. No more matrix crap.

I hear you. I’ve got to get out of this senior IT project manager craziness. I need to work in the PMO or take a lesser project coordinator role. Or like I said, take a job that doesn’t require any real brain power
