An 18-year-old white man has shot dead 10 people in a black neighbourhood of New York state in what authorities are calling a racially motivated attack.
The man, named as Payton Gendron in court papers, was arrested after a stand-off at the scene - a supermarket in the city of Buffalo.
He began firing in the store's car park before entering and continuing his rampage, streaming the attack online.
US President Joe Biden condemned what he described as an "abhorrent" act.
"We are investigating this incident as both a hate crime and a case of racially-motivated violent extremism," said Stephen Belongia, from the FBI's Buffalo office, adding there was evidence of "racial animosity."
CBS news reported that the attacker shouted racial slurs during the shooting and suggested that he had a racial slur written on his weapon. He also apparently posted a manifesto online which included racist language and ideas.
The suspect is believed to have driven for some 200 miles to reach the predominantly black area of the city. Thirteen people were shot in total and the majority of the victims were black.

Wow. Me and my next door neighbor, a black couple with a beautiful baby boy {which they didn't abort} have been co-existing now for two years.
I loaned him my power washer, and since I have a 26", 10 HP snow blower, have cleaned his driveway {when he was working and his then pregnant wife couldn't shovel to go to work}.
He cut my grass {multiple times} when I had a hernia operation, and we've been in each other's homes.
I'm not sure if that qualifies as coexistence, but we get along OK.
When I was very young and lived on a farm, we had multiple cats and dogs, they coexisted better than you and your acquaintances seem to do.

That’s the logical fallacy that causes people like you to not see the problem. You take the small exceptions and make them into rules.
Of course you can find blacks that you get along with and are wonderful people. They are the ones on the right end tail of their bell curve. Unfortunately there’s many more of the other type that are on the left hand of the curve with whom I’m sure you wouldn’t want as your neighbor.
So yes when we individually can pick and choose who we associate with, we obviously pick the good ones. But a society as a whole doesn’t have that luxury, it has to contend with the various populations as a whole. It can’t pick and choose which segment of a population it allows to live within its jurisdiction.
On an individual level it would be similar to you not being allowed to live where you want or pick your friends, but to randomly have those assigned to you.
