Kathy Barnette, a Republican Senate candidate in Pennsylvania, has a social media history packed with anti-Muslim and anti-LGBTQ sentiments, as well as conspiracy theories about former President Obama.
(snip)
Driving the news: Former President Donald Trump warned Republicans Thursday that Barnette's history will preclude her from winning a general election in Pennsylvania. Trump has endorsed celebrity TV doctor Mehmet Oz in the race.
(snip)
In one of the tweets, Barnette said "pedophilia is a cornerstone of Islam."
(snip)
Worth noting: Barnette talked derogatorily about Muslims, Islam and Obama in speeches as well, CNN reports.

Here is the dancing and jiving part.
I have been to all 50 states and at least 50 nations. I know Pennsylvania like the back of my hand.
You wish to claim you know the Commonwealth, but I think you know nothing and are just trying to sway voters on "electability" instead of issues.
Barnette is right on the issues...more right than Oz or McCormick
The primary is the time for conservatives to support their own and not compromise. If Oz or McCormick win, then it is time to compromise in the general election.
So, give it up. You are exposed as not supporting the most constitutional candidate.
He’s a disgrace
“In one of the tweets, Barnette said “pedophilia is a cornerstone of Islam.””
Might be true. I heard from the King of Saudi Arabia cousin that there is a practice where men will sleep with boys to avoid committing a sin of cheating on their Wifes.
Muhammad did have a sexual relationship with his 9-year-old wife. Barnette is just stating the truth.
If the founder of Islam slept with a 9-year-old, one this be a cornerstone of Islam.
I heard the same thing in 2010 they said Rand Paul was unelectable and look what happened he trounced his primary opponents and easily won in the general election
It doesn’t matter what you or Erik think. That’s irrelevant to me. I have no need, or desire, to prove myself to either one of you. I don’t care and you aren’t on my radar.
The point is to help get information out to other Freepers, particularly those who, like myself, live in PA.
Maybe you live in PA, also, as your handle might suggest. Joe had a strong relationship with Philly.
Again, I’ve lived all over the state and live in Pennsyltucky now.
This isn’t about me. It’s about Kathy.
And it’s about how the GOP wins in November.
Fair. But 2010 is like an eon ago compared to what is acceptable to say these days.
I like Rand.
Look, I’ll support Kathy all the way if she wins the primary. I just don’t think she has a good shot to win the general, and I want to keep the seat.
Parnell was the guy. But he didn’t hold up.
And Kentucky has more D’s than R’s and Rand openly questioned the Civil Rights Act they were very worried back then that he couldn’t win in a general election .
They were wrong
Thank you Joe.
I use my real name. I have paid the price for that and have been cancelled as a result.
These anti-Barnette posters are very suspicious.
The primary is the time for constitutionalists to support constitutionalists. We should not be distracted with “electability” and other nonsense.
Support the best candidate.
If murderer Ted Kennedy and Stolen Valor Blumenthal are “electable”, so it Barnette.
Notice how Repubs run and hide like always when called Racist, sexist, homophobes. I hope no FReeper ever complains about Romney or McConnell again since that is the only ones pure enough to win.
Throw the black woman under the bus for the good of the GOPe.
Sean Hannity looks like the racist nowadays trashing Kathy Barnette.
You’re not arguing the substance of the issues, but arguing about the messengers (me, CNN, Axios) instead.
Kathy has major problems heading into the general election. Massive liabilities.
That has nothing to do with me or, honestly, with the far-left media (and they are far left) sites involved.
It has to do with what Kathy said and wrote.
Again, we have an election to win in November. The “bad media (reporting what Kathy said and wrote)” and Joy Reid defenses aren’t likely to win the day then.
Just got to keep it real here. Amidst all the emotion.
My point is the esoteric arguments will not damage her.
They didn’t damage Rand when he openly questioned the Civil Rights Act on national television.
The voters will vote on the bread and butter issues
As I told someone the other day, I would LOVE to support (here in PA) a black candidate. And I will, in the general, if Kathy wins the primary.
As a conservative, of course, it’s not about “person from ‘X’ group” for me. It’s about the individual.
If Barnette, for example, were Winsome Sears I would be backing her right now. Because Sears doesn’t seem to have the particular liabilities that Barnette has, based upon each person’s past.
I’m all in on Herschel, though. Donated to his campaign even though I’m out of state.
I hope you’re right.
But I’ve seen — even out here in Red Land — women swayed by the “bigot” stuff. Seen the “hate has no home here” signs. All of that garbage.
Out here, in Pennsyltucky.
And this Buffalo thing isn’t going to make it easier.
Again, I’m here on the ground.
Things have changed a lot in the last 10 years.
On this site, it does.
We have vastly more credibility than you do on here.
You have ZERO credibility and you are fast witkingb yourself into the negative column.
That's irrelevant to me.
I don't care what's relevant to you.
I have no need, or desire, to prove myself to either one of you.
Oh yes you do on this site.
You may be a big shot on the far left CNN/Axios sites. Over here, you don't count. You have ZERO credibility.
I don't care and you aren't on my radar.
So why are you posting crazy stuff from CNN/Axios here all of a sudden troll?
You and Mitch love him. Enjoying Mitch’s Ukraine Tour Today?
I have no argument with Walker Trump doesn’t either fully behind him.
The same stuff was going on in Kentucky.
They said an outsider who had never held office before like him could never win & there were groups and millions of millions were spent against him in both the primary and the general election.
So what is your point?
From the videos I’ve seen she is competent and presentable.
She is similar to Rand in that regard once people get to
know her they will like her.
Much like some of us !
Hello, newbie. Thanks for your “concern.”
