Maher: There Is a Government Position on Protesting at a Justice’s House ‘It’s Against the Law’

On Friday’s broadcast of HBO’s “Real Time,” host Bill Maher criticized the Biden White House for its stance on the protests taking place outside the private homes of Supreme Court justices and stated that there is an official government position on these protests, which is, “It’s wrong. It’s intimidation. It’s against the law.”

Maher said, “[C]ertainly, the Press [Secretary] at the White House is down with this. Jen Psaki said — asked about this, these are people who are demonstrating outside the houses of the Supreme Court justices, she said, ‘I don’t have an official U.S. government position on where people protest.’ But we do. It’s wrong. It’s intimidation. It’s against the law.”

That’s the second time in a month or so that Bill Maher has gotten something right.

Long ago, we used to watch his show. He, like Chris Matthews used to do on Hardball, would play devil’s advocate to whomever he was talking to. Matthews used to only have one interview, but he could take either side. Maher hosted a panel of three or four people who were conservative, liberal and moderate. He would question all of them fairly evenly as a debater. When he and Matthews devolved into leftist spinners, both shows became a lot less informative and interesting.

Okay, so it is against the law. Who is enforcing that law, arresting, prosecuting, and jailing folks? Ah, no one.

These are federal laws I presume, they're facilitating the protests. Any state laws, e.g., in Virginia? Doesn't seem like they are enforcing them if there are any.

Bet if it was MAGA supporters protesting at Sotomayor's home, we'd see a very different result.
