Mike Quigley (D-IL) stated that increased oil production is “so critical to addressing the inflation issue,” and responded to the Biden administration canceling oil and gas leases by stating companies “can up production now on the wells they have.”

This is like saying Guam will tip over level stupid.

Oil is the life-blood of the economy.

Without it, the economy dies, and the country dies a slow death.

Take oil away, and we don’t have an economy. Slow down oil, and the country gets sick. Put blocks into the blood-stream of the economy, and you get a very sick economy, and parts of the economy die and never come back.

Nothing that we know of can replace oil, not at the moment and not for a long time. Even clean-energy/green-energy, needs oil and other fossil fuels. EVs don’t run on renewable energy; EVs run on electricity generated by fossil-fuels.

Climate-change/global-warming policy, will kill the economy. We might as well be living in the middle-ages without fossil fuels.

Actually they do, sort of. During the Carter years I worked on a rig in the oil field, and every month the regulators would come around and Order a certain amount of wells to be SHUT DOWN because they were producing too much Oil. Not sure if they do it anymore though

There is a physics to depleting oil reservoirs. They can't simply increase production without maintaining the internal pressure that keeps the oil flowing out of the wells.
