Various areas of Maine, including the Bangor International Airport, are reimplementing mask mandates due to changes in the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) transmission map.
The CDC’s map currently has several Maine counties, including Aroostook, Cumberland, Hancock, Knox, Lincoln, Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Sagadahoc, in a “high risk” level, recommending them to “wear a mask indoors.”

Well poo. We’re headed to Maine in June for a convention.
Get over it Maine.
Business meetings and conventions in the Boston area have gone back to demanding Vax cards for entry.
Was it George Carlin who said, “your immune system needs germs to practice on“?
High Covid rates where masks are mandatory is not a coincidence.
Wasn’t there a song about this?
One night in Bangor.
Going back to masking is a pointless panic move, yes, but Maine has reason to panic. Indeed, Maine is perhaps, in microcosm, the poster child for this country's failed pandemic response, a response based on the worthless (and, in fact, dangerous) COVID "vaccines."
Starting in August 2021, highly-vaxxed Maine began to incur an increase in deaths involving COVID, compared to the same time period in 2020, when no one in the state had yet been vaxxed. Specifically, for the August-December 2021 time period, Maine experienced an increase in COVID deaths of some 174%, compared to August-December 2020.
Things do not appear to have improved with the advent of 2022. COVID deaths in January 2022 in Maine were up 14% compared to January 2021. For February 2022, COVID deaths were up 100% (i.e., 186 in February 2022 compared to February 2021, when Maine incurred 93 COVID deaths). Complete data for March 2022 have yet to be compiled, but with 75 COVID deaths already recorded, Maine has exceeded the COVID death figure of 38 it incurred in March 2021. (Mortality data compiled by the National Center for Health Statistics can lag by many, many weeks, which explains why, even in May 2022, the final figures for March 2022 are not yet in.)
And it isn't just COVID deaths. "All cause" mortality in Maine for the August-December 2021 time period was up some 16% compared to August-December 2020. For the first three months of 2022, "all cause" mortality in Maine is up 13%, compared to January-March 2021.
Maine is a veritable dumpster fire of "public health" -- which is to say "governmental" -- failure. So, yes, Maine "public health" officials are panicking, doubling down on their own incompetence.
Goes something like this...
One night in Bangor and the nights are chilly
The bars are open and their snacks are free
There's always women sliding up to me
Anyway, something like that.
Dr. Sha-Na-Na must be boot licking again! Mills and Sha-Na-Na... WHAT A PAIR OF LOSERS!

Mask wearing does not appear to have reduced Covid case rates in Europe. In fact, covid rates were higher where more people wore masks (but that might be because people were more motivated to wear masks when the rates went up).
So you have to wear a mask in the airport but not on the airplane? Pure government logic.
Where I live, PANYNJ runs all airports, but you don’t have to wear a mask in Newark, but do at JFK and LaGuardia by orders of Frau Hochul.
