Biden predicts Roe ruling could help Democrats expand majorities

President Biden on Wednesday predicted Democrats can pick up three Senate seats in in the upcoming midterm elections, as the country reckons with the Supreme Court looking set to overturn Roe v. Wade.

“I think we can pick up three Senate seats” and increase the Democratic majority in the House, Biden said at a Democratic National Committee (DNC) fundraiser in Chicago.

He argued that the Supreme Court’s leaked opinion on abortion rights, if held, could generate enthusiasm on the Democratic side in November, due to the on-the-ground consequences of such a decision.

Historically, the abortion issue has never been a national advantage to the democrats. They try to make believe that it is, but surveys over the years say otherwise. People just aren’t swayed in that direction by angry demagoguery. And only a small isolated minority are enthusiastic about wanting it. They already have that vote sewn up. So this is wishful thinking, or trying to slant the coverage in their direction. Not real.

They just voted to force religious affiliated hospitals to perform abortions and voted to have abortion on demand completely unrestricted up to the point of birth, outlawing even minimal restrictions at the state level, etc. The overwhelming majority of Americans oppose this and the Democrats put themselves on record. Democrats are extremists on this issue far to the left of the public at large - so by all means - let’s have this discussion, Democrats.
