People such as Schumer are blinded by their liberalism. They don’t care that abortion is a divisive issue. He wants to shove liberal laws down our throats.

Democrats have moved up to 3 days after birth to terminate.

At some point they will have 51 votes?

I think those 2 wanted a more restrictive abortion law, so they voted against this particular bill.

Murkowski and Collins voted against? That’s surprising.

A 50-50 the would have been broken by Kamala, which then could have led to a motion to change the filibuster rule.

Clearly the democrats have determined that this has more value to them as a campaign issue to stir up their base until the November elections. Manchin would have voted for a bill that simply codified Roe v. Wade. This bill went much further, basically prohibiting any restrictions on abortion up to the moment of birth.

I assume this vote was taken to further inflame the couple hundred women screaming in front of Alito’s house.

I watched every minute of this historic moment.

The Congress just lost the way to stop abortion on demand.

America following ...not a LAW...BUT A RULING from the Supreme Court, for almost fifty years.

I was mesmerized and so Thankful to God.

So Congress will bring Roe v. Wade back? At some point, they will have 51 votes.

Right? This vote was too close for comfort
If GOP smart, they’d hammer how extreme this bill is
They shy away from hot buttons like this but I think moderates would understand how radical & evil this is

They lost by 1 vote. You don’t think they will get another vote at some point?

Wouldn’t there need to be a “cloture” vote first, requiring a 60 vote margin to proceed to a final vote?

Honestly this is the result the Dems wanted - they were looking for the ability to wav the bloody shirt in this election cycle - “See! Them Meanie Repubs Want Womyn Enslaved!”. That is why they pushed a pro-abortion bill so extreme that even abortion supporters were taken aback by it.

I hope that Senator Schumer and the democrats realize how many people feel abortion is seriously wrong.

That’s what I heard. The Democrats bill had very few restrictions on when or where abortions happened, and Collins and Murkowski wanted to have at least some restrictions in place. So the bill was too liberal for them to support.
