Bidenflation: Majority of Americans Now Worry About Maintaining Their Standard of Living
Breitbart ^ | 05.11.2022 | John Carney

Posted on 05/11/2022 5:29:00 AM PDT by Macky Cracklins

A majority of Americans say they are worried about being able to maintain their standard of living, poll results released Monday by Gallup showed.

Fifty-two percent saw they are worried about their standard of living, up four points from 2020. This is the first time a majority has worried about being able to maintain their standard of living since 2016, Gallup said.

The worries are even more pronounced about lower-income Americans. The share of Americans earnings $40,000 or less who say they worried about maintaining their standard of living has soared 17 points 56 percent in 2021 to 73 percent today. It has increased six points to 52 percent among middle-income earners, defined as earning between $40,0000 and $100,000, and four points to 36 percent among the top income group.

Sixty-five percent of lower-income Americans say they worry about having enough money to pay their monthly bills, up 15 percentage points from a year ago. Fifty-nine percent say they worry about paying housing costs, including rent and mortgages, up 12 points from 2021. Seventy-five percent say they are worried they will not have enough saved for retirement, also up 12 points.

Lower income households are also more concerned over health care costs. Paying medical bills for a serious illness or accident is a concern for 72 percent of lower-income Americans, up 10 points. Paying ordinary medical bills is a concern 62 percent of lower-income Americans, up nine points.

For the population as a whole, there has been little change in the share of adults worried about paying medical costs for normal healthcare (43 percent), paying medical costs for a serious health illness or accident (56 percent), or paying for a child’s college education (36 percent).

Oh heck, they've already been telling us that we need to lower our living standards. So I suspect the Administration / Democrats aren't too concerned about people being able to maintain their standard of living !!

Indeed. The mission of those in government has been to lower the US standard of living in every way. Income, life expectancy, etc. The mission is to “level the world” so that wehre you live makes no difference, no one country stands out as “better” than another. That’s the globalist ideal. Portable work force, factories and so on.

Another goal is to instill that all cultures are equal, that no culture is superior to another. This is usually couched as diversity being a strength.

Americans who don’t sense that their standard of living is going to go down have been misled or are not clear thinkers. This trajectory has been steady for generations.

Americans Now Worry About Maintaining Their Standard of Living

Really? Open borders. Supply chain dependent upon China. Endless war on the other side of the world. Now they are worried?

It is getting bad for people out there. I don’t think either party cares because all they seem to care about is Ukraine and their pocket filling kickbacks for financial aid. The scum in DC ain’t suffering so who cares?
We can’t even get them to speak out and help those being sent to the gulag unfairly for Jan 6th or people ruined by fake vax injuries.

Ask yourself, if the GOP were to win in the midterms, would they do anything at all the voters were hoping for, OR will the current GOP leadership bring about losing it all in 2024.

I’’ll take the OR. They had it all in 2016 and sabotaged the voters and the POTUS.

The triumph of managerialism where old boomers manage global financial and legal empires while everything about making stuff is farmed out to the rest of the world. It's been going on since I reached adulthood. Poor Russians forced to be self-sufficient in everything because we have sanctioned them and the ruble is crashing upwards against the dollar as a consequence.

I think the PAX Americana has about reached its limit and the rest of the world are tired of our moochers in chief. I know I am.

Ok, but to be fair, what fraction of that $40 B is actually going to leave the shores of America and what fraction will escape the clutches of the global hegemony who are pushing this war in the first place. I.e. are any Ukrainian non-elite citizens going to see a dime of that?

Let’s say you make $100,000. This Brandon crisis will cost you at least 5-6000 extra after tax dollars not counting inflation. So your standard of living based on income will fall at least 15%, probably 20%, so yes that’s a HUGE HIT.

That's the problem in this war...Zelensky says nothing about helping the people...it's like...fight or get out of here..we can't afford to keep you.

As men were leaving with their families...they were pulled out of line and told to fight or die.

The last two steps the Left needs to do is to destroy the Middle Class and disarm the law abiding people and then goodbye Republic and hello dictatorship.

These days federal spending of any kind is subsidizing the international military industrial complex, the health care big pharma complex, the education/indoctrination complex etc.

Ignore what they say, watch what they do.

It is hitting where the average person if feeling it:
utility increases

food increases

gas -- somewhat stabilized but still around $2 more than when Biden took office

general goods such as clothing and home needs

The Biden/Dem blame game isn't working -- not Putin, not the Russians, not the Republicans, not the Ultra MAGAs, not the greedy corporations ...

Biden can claim in his telepromptifying that it is the best economy in 100 years, but the evidence is the opposite on-the-street and in fly-over country.

Americans were sold out decades ago. Mass immigration, trade deals, amnesties, Republican and Dem spending, entitlements, rip. Keep working slave.

Yeah. A half-percent interest on moneymarket accounts doesn't add much to the retirement fund. I lost too much in NASDAQ 24 years ago. At 74, I can't afford to gamble with the 'reserve' funds I do have -- especially when we seem to be heading for Carter-like inflation rates.

I have 3 CD's that mature tomorrow. They were earning about 2.8%. The nearest renewal is going to be 1.7%.
