Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed legislation Monday requiring Sunshine State students to learn about the “Victims of Communism” in high school.
Beginning in the 2023-2024 academic year, high school students enrolled in US government courses will get at least 45 minutes of instruction each November 7 describing how “victims suffered under these regimes through poverty, starvation, migration, systemic lethal violence, and suppression of speech.”
DeSantis inked the law at the Freedom Tower in Miami, where 650,000 Cubans were processed after fleeing their homeland upon Fidel Castro’s seizure of power in 1959.

Interesting. Same day a Jewish group banned DeSanti from speaking in NYC.
Dear Florida,
Could the rest of the country borrow your governor for eight years? We promise to return him when we are through.
Thanks in advance.
Engraved-on-His-hands
Gulag Archipelago ought to be required reading in high school.
That might give some of the skulls full of mush a glimpse of what communism actually is.
Amercianism vs. Communism was a class required to graduate Florida schools back in the 1970s. What’s old is new again.
The post is phrasing this in a strange way..
They are trying to start a fight again.
The law isn’t about teaching kids things. Governor DeSantis knows full well that his struggle has been AGAINST schools teaching this that the parents never signed on about.
They are trying to set up an environment where leftists can get angry because they believe the governor is now teaching subjects parents might not want.
I sense trickery afoot.
The biggest potential pitfall here are the teachers and the teachers union, who will do everything they can to undermine it.
A possible solution would be to have the anti-communist instruction produced by contract, by one or more outside, anti-communist organization, of which there are many.
If they really wanted to spice it up, choose an annual theme, starting with “people persecuted by communists”, which could give them a hundred or more different blocks of instruction. These would be inexpensive to produce, as the communists have murdered, starved, tortured, enslaved and persecuted so many people, in so many nations, and their victims rarely have a chance to speak about it.
Excellent. President Trump recognized November 7 as victims of communism day in 2018. We need to make sure to mark this day and to educate children about the tens of millions of people around the world murdered by communism.
Lord knows the communists won’t educate them about it. Nor will the corporate media. Hollywood hardly mentions it. We cannot let the violence, brutality and ultimately mass murder that is the standard product of communism whenever its implemented ever be swept under the rug.
wonder if the schools still teach cursive handwriting...
We used to call that History when I was in school.
Yes. Nice. I’d add that this thread could turn into a great
reference.
Any PDFs that can be found to provide the literature we’re
suggesting, would be a great addition to it.
AMEN AMEN AMEN!
4 more years...
desantis for florida governor 2022...
florida first!...
trump/musk revenge tour 2024...
This Governor is truly awesome.
It seems there is a big movement to keep cursive handwriting
in kid’s lives.

Of course it takes time from teaching such more important
things like LGBTxyz, homosexual practices, and general sex
ed for kids five and up.
Common Core Standards were updated around 2010, to make
sure the important things were taught.

Basic financial math too...
More States Are Starting to Require High School Students to Take Financial Literacy Courses (5.2.22)
In addition to Constitution, all financial literacy courses need to include the Supreme Court's clarification of Congress's limited power to appropriate taxes.
"Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States." —Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.
"From the accepted doctrine that the United States is a government of delegated powers, it follows that those not expressly granted, or reasonably to be implied from such as are conferred, are reserved to the states, or to the people. To forestall any suggestion to the contrary, the Tenth Amendment was adopted. The same proposition, otherwise stated, is that powers not granted are prohibited [emphasis added]." —United States v. Butler, 1936.
Insights welcome.
Also, patriots are reminded that they must vote twice this election year. Your first vote is to primary career RINO incumbents. Your second vote is to replace outgoing Democrats and RINOs with Trump-endorsed patriot candidates.
Again, insights welcome.
Yessiree, it was a requirement back then. I wonder when they got rid it. They never should have. It was a great course.
Man…. This guy gets it!
Probably better than any GOP politician since B1 Bob!
My grandad told me how when the russian troops invaded Latvia, they were welcome by large numbers of jews giving them flowers. Since they were so scared of the nazis they viewed the communists as saviors.
So it does not surprise me that members of the jewish people are sympathizers with communism and don’t like DeSantis.
“I wonder when they got rid it”
In Florida it was probably when that idiot Charlie crist was governor
Yeah, maybe. Wouldn’t surprise me if Yeb! was responsible either.
