Incredible footage captures the moment two Ukrainian fighter jets bombed the Russian-occupied Snake Island.
Footage released on Saturday shows Ukrainian Air Force Su-27 Flankers striking facilities during a high speed bombing of Snake Island, which was seized by Russian forces earlier this year.
A Ukrainian Bayraktar TB2 drone captured two Su-27s flying low over the island from the south, before dropping multiple bombs and infrared countermeasure flares, TheDrive.com reported.
The southern approach to the island was a strategic measure from Ukrainian forces because Russian defenders on the island would most likely be focused on looking north and west toward the Ukrainian coastline, according to The Drive.
The daring raid appeared to strike direct hits to the island’s main complex and buildings above the pier.
After the initial strikes there appear to be at least two major secondary explosions, which could mean the bombs struck an ammunition or fuel stage area, The Drive reported.
The bold attack comes after Ukraine claimed a TB2 drone destroyed Russian landing ship on the island.
On Saturday Ukraine showed a video claiming to be a military drone hit on a Russian landing ship supplying a TOR anti-aircraft missile system to Snake Island.
The footage appears to show the destruction of a large Serna-type landing craft in an air strike.
'Enemy units remaining on Snake Island remain without air cover and will be destroyed and burned out like cockroaches or locusts,' said Ukrainian official Anton Gerashchenko.

See my post 20. It was a variant with longer range.
The also have/had ships that carry the chopper.
SoCal Pubbie: Deny reality all you want, but find better excuses.
I wish I had said that in my post.
Did Ukraine destroy a Russian frigate the other day or was this just more propaganda?
Okay, let’s dig deeper. If they are Russians on a Russian-controlled island, why do they take defensive position to secure the landing and unload weapons and ammunition in such a fashion as if it is an air assault operation?
“...expect the Poles, Czechs, and Baltics to send in a large expeditionary force under the Ukrainian flag”
Illegal. None of those soldiers will want to be labelled a “spy” or “mercenary” to be shot at capture. Also not necessary. The UKRs have over 8 million men of service age to draw from. Since many speak UKR and Russian they are much better suited than foreigners. Plus the whole C&C and fighting for their homeland aspect.
Accordiug to some on this forum, Russia has full air superiority so this could not have happened.
“why do they take defensive position to secure the landing and unload weapons and ammunition in such a fashion as if it is an air assault operation?”
Because apparently some Russian troops still follow their training? Perhaps they were air assault troops?
Why should you do it on your own base?
CINO fappin thread
Air superiority nor air supremacy. So random attacks like this can still occur. And it’s possible these SU 27s are from Poland or other NATO stocks and flew from outside Ukraine.
BTW if I were Ukrakne I would attack Sevastopol.
.
Tell Putin to go home.
Training.
It’s always done that way in a combat zone, especially if they are reinforcing or coming in from rear echelon area since it is closer to the front. But I don’t know it could be a friendly fire incident or a Russian drone strike. I just don’t see it as likely. If it was an assault group (UKRs) there would be much more than one Mi-8 going in. With all the ammo IMO it was a reinforcement group that was there for resupply and rotation.
RIP
The Russian Navy claims it downed three Mi-8s, two fighter jets, and sank one landing ship in the incident. So it is likely a Ukrainian propaganda trying to turn things upside down as usual.
At least you’ve abandoned your bogus combat radius excuse, that’s a start. Others have addressed the reason why troops would exit in such a fashion. For good reason. The video shows they could be attacked anywhere.
The range issue stands for the original Mi-8 mentioned in the original report.
Roll over and say Hi to Nancy.
