Vaccines, better workplace conditions, and higher wages are encouraging older people to get back into the workforce, so undermining business demands for more migrants.
“The percentage of retirees returning to work has picked up momentum in recent months, hitting a pandemic high of 3.2 percent in March,” according to a May 5 Washington Post article that relies on data from Indeed.com. The Post continued:

I retired eight years ago and have no desire or intention of ever going back to work. Besides, I would never be able to find the time for a job.
Hey Erik. I’ll go back to work. You just go first.
The higher cost of living, not the vaccines.
I suppose gasoline at 3x what it was just 18 months ago; food about 2x higher, increased inflation, higher electricity and utility bills - all had NOTHING to do with these people returning to work
The crash of the stock market and the loss of income on their retirement investments had nothing to do with the idea of giving up on their retirement dreams as well
Sympathy for the patriots
Those retired Democrats deserve as much misery as they can get in their “golden years”. No sympathy and nothing but contempt. They voted Democratic and destroyed all of us
Yeah, 40% inflation will tend to do that.
No one is going back to work for a "vaccine."
That's why a whole lot of people quit, you raging dimwits.
Yep.
Inflation might have something to do with it too.
Yeah, I think maybe by this time next year we'll all be look for work.. :(
I’m going back this summer after 4 years off. I’ll pry work another 5 years just to save as much as possible before the robots take over.
Older workers are in demand...they actually know how to work.
I went back to work after a hiatus. The kids don’t want to work so now orgs and corps value us again.
My friends work is good for you. Those that can work 20 hours/wk should. Keeps them busy. They can counsel younger workers in life and finance. Me? F—k that!

Yeah, that pretty much tells the whole story. It has nothing to do with Biden’s roaring inflation - inflation that makes it difficult for many seniors to pay their heating bills or the grocery tab.

The company from which I retired two years ago recently sent out an email inviting retirees to apply for work (not me specifically). I’ll pass.
Older workers are going back to work because of Biden’s lovely economy.
Exactly. Inflation eating up their retirement money.
Work is fine. It’s the idiots that run the companies. They take every incentive out of doing a good job.
I would guess many people are going back to work because their investments have tanked under the current group of hateful a**ho**s on the left, and they feel less secure than they are comfortable with. I can’t imagine ever retiring - God willing that I stay healthy. The world is way too unstable, and at this point it’s about whatever stability I can give to those I love.
