Voters in Madison Cawthorn's North Carolina district have very mixed feelings about the freshman lawmaker as controversies swirl before his May 17 primary

He's twice brought guns to airport checkpoints, allegedly drove without a valid license, made dubious claims of cocaine-fueled orgies, called Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy a "thug," is facing a congressional financial investigation, and, most recently, appeared in a leaked video depicting the conservative lawmaker naked in bed while simulating sex with another man

From what little I have seen, he says the right things and has the right positions on many issues. But personally... he life is a mess, and I feel confident we can find someone else who is just as strong on the issues without the U haul full of baggage.

Who is running against him in the primary?

Probably a RINO, which would make sense about the timing of the video release and the press getting the long knives out for him.

Forget Asheville for it is a leftist haven. Come 20 miles south to Cawthorne’s hometown of Hendersonville and it’s a Cawthorne-is-a-fool media blitz in print and airwaves. There was a radio ad today from an evangelical pastor who claims to have counseled Cawthorne when he went to Congress and said the kid is too immature to effectively represent the values of the constituents.

The only thing that might save him in the primary is that his opponent is a low visibility NC state senator.

Adding to my #10 these are the very issues the local gannet rag print press have been continuously running for the past few months, plus a couple of other stories. One was the claim that Cawthorn campaign workers were surrounding the signs of his opponent so you could only see Cawthorne signs. I saw this with my own eyes. The other story was another homo angle with a video showing Cawthorne in a vehicle with another guy grabbing at his crotch.

Here is one of his signs that was defaced. Those are rainbow flag stickers on his eyes.

Has Cawthorn made millions in bribes from China, Ukraine and has knocked up a stripper, slept with his bro’s wife, and may have had incest with his niece? If so, why he can run for President!

Likely just videos from when he was in college being an especially stupid, raunchy frat boy and his equally stupid frat boy friends filmed it and then didn’t delete the files. We’re in an age where almost everyone has a recording device in their pocket.

Someone is now compiling all of this stuff and releasing it gradually in succession - drip, drip, drip. This probably isn’t the last thing.

He is NOT a Vet, he was paralyzed in an auto wreck at age 18.

I'm not sure what to make of him, but it is very late in the primary season, and it looks like it's him or a rino.

The district is so red that it probably can't go demonRAT, so maybe he gets re-elected and then see how to resolve the side issues.
