Former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin will receive 20 to 25 years in prison after a judge accepted a plea deal he struck with prosecutors in December.

In December, Chauvin pleaded guilty to charges of violating George Floyd’s civil rights when he pinned his knee on Floyd’s neck, killing him. In exchange, Chauvin agreed a sentencing between 20 to 25 years in prison.

Chauvin’s decision to enter a plea deal came after initially rejecting another plea offer in September.

I thought it was proven he died of an overdose?

What kind of a plea deal was that?

Thanks OBAMA!

George Floyd died of a self-administered fentanyl overdose, but where’s the political power in that?

And heart disease.

Chauvin needs a new trial and a new defense attorney.

Minimum would be 85% of 20 or 16 years? I thought he was appealing to obtain a new trial at the state level. What is the point now?

“He will be an old man when he gets out”

I would be surprised if he lived that long. My guess is he dies in the yard as a result of a knee to the neck.

I am surprised that there weren’t more police and law enforcement organizations standing up for him. The video looked awful, but it was apparently an accepted restraint method according to the Minneapolis police policy manual at that time. Given officer Chauvin’s lack of experience, his relatively small size in comparison to Mr. Floyd, and the unprecedented levels of politicization of the case, this outcome seems extremely distorted. For all the talk of a fraternal “thin blue line”, his fellow officers all seem to have cowardly abandoned him in his time of need.

What a travesty. Chauvin is a sacrificial lamb to appease the woke gods. Maybe at some point, MN will get a decent governor who will pardon this poor man.

Plea deals have nothing to do with the facts of the case.

I thought it was proven he died of an overdose?

That's what the coroner's report said

But America instead insisted on having a show trial.

The truth does not matter. This was a show trial.

Everyone was afraid of the mob whipped up by the media liars.

We should really do something about media liars if we want to fix what is wrong with the nation.

"I thought it was proven he died of an overdose?"

Yes, same way it was "proven" here that Heather Heyer died of a heart attack.

Floyd died of an overdose the precise moment he had Chauvin's knee on his neck, and Heyer just happened to drop dead of an unrelated heart attack when Fields plowed his car into the crowd. My what bad luck.

Meanwhile, the MN cop who shot Justine Damond had his little 12-year sentence reduced to 57 months.

“I thought it was proven he died of an overdose?”

On the internet perhaps. In the autopsy the COD was “cardiopulmonary arrest complicating law enforcement subdual, restraint, and neck compression.”

I think what really did it for Chauvin was the approximately four minutes he had his weight on Floyd’s neck >>> after Floyd died <<<

Tough to argue he gave a damn when he couldn’t bother to check to see if the man was still alive and didn’t notice that he wasn’t moving.

E. Pluribus Unum, the political power in that is making everyone that knows that George died of an overdose scared...They are gleefully taking away his life. The people in our government working against the American citizen have no soul. They are playing for power and intend to make the biggest dent on history they can because they have no concept of accountability to our creator. More sinisterly yet...they may know they are damned have traded their soul for short term power and recognition.
