Austin, TX, Release: May 3, 2022 — For Immediate Release
The Republican Party of Texas (RPT) released the following statement regarding the leaked draft decision of the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization case that would overturn Roe v. Wade and Casey v. Planned Parenthood, thereby making the legality of abortion a state issue. A leak of this nature has never happened before in the history of the Supreme Court and should be taken very seriously. Whether the intent was to influence the outcome of the case or prompt a legislative response, this leak is damaging to the independence of the judiciary, the integrity of the Court and the rule of law. It should be investigated by the FBI and those responsible should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. When Roe is overturned, the voters of each state will have the ability to decide if abortion is legal where they live and under what conditions. The RPT platform calls for the reversal of Roe v Wade and the abolition of abortion. To this end, it was a legislative priority of the Republican Party of Texas for the 87th Texas Legislative Session to abolish abortion, and we supported 11 bills on the subject. One of the most significant was HB1280, proposed by Rep. Giovanni Capriglione and Sen. Angela Paxton and signed into law by Gov. Abbott, which would prohibit abortion in Texas when the Supreme Court overrules, wholly or partly, Roe v. Wade. As a result, if the leaked decision is ultimately rendered, unborn children will be legally protected in Texas. The Republican Party of Texas supports facilitating adoptions and providing assistance to mothers in need both during and after their pregnancies. To this end, the Texas Legislature has greatly increased funding for the Alternatives to Abortion program, which received $100 million for the biennium. This program gives mothers access to needed resources during their pregnancy. After delivery, the program continues to assist the new mom and child by providing items like diapers, formula, and parenting classes. Additionally private nonprofit crisis pregnancy centers like Birth Choice in Dallas, the Trotter House in Austin, and Houston Pregnancy Help Center in Houston provide services to assist mothers during and after pregnancy. We are witnessing history right now. We do not know what the coming hours or days will bring. But we are hopeful for a future that once again protects innocent life. Join us in prayer. |
May God Bless Texas and may God Bless the USA.
May God protect the unborn within our nation.
when is Texas gonna secede? Get on with it already. :)
No! The rest of the country needs their Electoral votes.
And they had better be careful how many Kalifornians they let into their state, lest they become Kalifornicated.
The entire South including mid-north-central west
Parts of Cali, upstate new York, rural pa..should all secede.
Their Amnesty Senator Cornyn is working on giving the Democrats a permanent majority with amnesty for illegal aliens.
Blah blah blah.
Amen
I am proud to be a Texan. Do believe the Providential Hand will reward or punish states according to their choices.
Agree.
Yeah that ship sailed a long, long time ago.
We won’t. We want it all back.
Some of my ancestors were born in Texas during the Republic. My family has owned/operated farms in this county since 1889, before that in Coryell County. Very few who have deep roots in Texas really want to leave the “United States”.
But we will never be subjected to this Godless Evil crap we face. Texas will Stand, where it is necessary.
If they do then who will they go crying to when their electrical grid crashes again or Houston gets nailed by another hurricane?
DC is Bought. Almost all of them.
“If they do then who will they go crying to when their electrical grid crashes”
Washington caused the grid problem to get out of hand. Abbott tried to get permission to bypass DC IMPOSED CONSTRAINTS and was denied. He should have ignored DC.
Texas has its own electrical grid precisely because they don't have Washington dictate to them. Their mistakes were their own, their electrical distribution system was of their own devising, they have nobody to blame but themselves.
That is clueless noise. All those Texas power generators have to abide by EPA imposed and dictated limits for different emissions.
But the mix of power generators, how they are installed and maintained and interconnected, how many power generators there are, what sort of backup plans or emergency plans are developed, are the responsibility of Texas alone. They are not regulated by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
Texas power generators have to abide by EPA imposed limits for emissions of nitrogen oxide, carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, mercury along with release of wastewater. Those limits prevent them from generating the maximum amount of power that is possible.
You think TX has a border crisis now, wait until they secede and they'll need a wall on their Northern Borders as people will be rushing to live in a free state given what the lefties and Brandon have done to the other 49.
Your comment was all cute and snarky but the Houston flood was from a 500 year weather event, i.e. a category 5 hurricane staying stationary at the coast for 5 days, dumping 50+ inches of rain, and the grid event was from a 100 year record low cold snap.
