MORA, N.M.—Firefighters in New Mexico failed on Friday to pin back the flames of the United States’ largest wildfire, which is burning perilously close to a string of mountain villages.

The blaze is the most destructive of dozens in the U.S. Southwest that are more widespread and burning earlier than normal in the year.

Thousands of people in the Mora valley, about 40 miles northeast of Santa Fe, prepared to evacuate as smoke billowed from a forest around the nearby farming community of Ledoux.

This is the second drought year in a row which I have never seen before in my life here in California. I wonder if it has anything to do with it being the second year of Treason Man running our country. I know that’s absurd but who knows?

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Limp wrists all want to use this as a tool to push wealth redistribution re "climate change" with nary a word about the cause of (most of) these fires, viz. dope addicts living in our forests. They start fires to keep warm but are too stupid to control them.

All up and down the American River in kalifornistan, for example.

it makes sense in a Biblical way
in judgment, God withholds the rains

The Forest Service obviously failed to learn lessons over the years about not attempting controlled burns in New Mexico in the spring. It’s the windiest time of year here, and we’ve had some nasty winds this spring.

This one was started by the U. S. Forest Service who had a ‘controlled burn’ morph into a wildfire when winds increased in the afternoon - - as they always do in springtime New Mexico.

The fire is a considerable distance southeast of there and the path is to the northeast and east. IIRC the memorial is in an open area not too many trees close by.

The fire is called the Calf Canyon/Helmet Peak fire. It is now over 120,000 acres and threatens the west side of the city of Las Vegas. The Helmet Peak fire started as a US Forest Service controlled burn that got out of control but I'm not aware of the start of the Calf Canyon fire. They merged several days ago and continue to expand.

Two more serious fires are located in the Jemez area NW of Bernalillo and the Cooks Peak fire further to the northeast threatens the Philmont Boy Scout Ranch.

My thinking is that the Hermit's Peak fire caused the Calf Canyon fire. Winds were erratic the days leading up to the Calf Canyon. Could have easily blown in from the NE where the Hermit's Peak fire was already going. The USFS owns this one.

Most of the forest land in New Mexico is federal land. Same with CA.
