Juneau VA Outreach Clinic. I live on an island over a hundred miles away so an airplane or boat ride is required to get there, plus at least one night in a hotel.
There is no VA Hospital that I know of in Alaska. Last time I talked to a person, it was a lady doing a "Customer satisfaction survey". I let her have it, politely. She was nice enough and referred me to the "One Stop Shop Line". Again, several calls. NO answer. NO call back.
This is VERY sharp contrast with my experience with the Juneau office over the past ten years. It started (What a coincidence) about a year ago. Now the bills are going unpaid. My local pharmacist refuses to fill VA prescriptions because he doesn't get paid. Now the ophthalmologist and the Hospital...

I have an appointment with the VA clinic this week. My clinic hasn’t had a real doctor for as long as I can remember.
I get my prescription sent in the mail directly from the VA pharmacy. I asked if I could get it filled at Walmart because I don’t trust the mail, and they refused.
Me too, now. But I only need one and I could probably do without that. Maybe I will have to.
The first thing to do is to strip the White House of any health or medical resources; send all that to the border.
And if there are any such resources available to Congress members; ship all of it to the border. We can appoint new Congress members if some of them are lost to the flu or gunshots.
Next - relocate half of all medical resources within 100 miles of the nation’s Capitol to the border. If health care professionals are reluctant to relocate, relocate them anyway under guard; but just as a temporary measure until the emergency is over.
Soon the emergency will be over.
It took me 3 years to get my medical records, which they told me didn’t exist.
Thanks for this post! Few days ago, Fox mentioned the Administration is thinking of sending Doctors and Nurses from VA to the Border. There’s a large VA Hospital in my area so I immediately called Rep Charlie Crist to say he needs to find some courage and let the Admin know this is completely unacceptable. Our Vets put their lives on the line to help our Country. Our Veterans deserve the best treatment! Resources should not be taken from them to give to people who are illegally entering our Country.
I have heard that there are staffing shortages. AND they want to send whats left to the border??

Aww yes. I know of this situation. You might try and ask the hospital over that runs your clinic if they will send you a laptop to do tele med. That would be a start. And I guess you order your meds online at My Healthy Vet?

Fortunately, we do have a small clinic and the VA has assigned me a Primary Care Physician here on the island. Getting my one prescription filled has not been a problem (So far). Just a phone call to the number on the label for a refill or a call to the local clinic for a renewal has worked fine for years.
Now however, they are jerking me around, slow paying or denying things they already approved. Add to that that the have become totally unresponsive, refusing to answer the phone or return calls. It's infuriating.
I'm one of the lucky ones. I have service connected disabilities from Vietnam but I don't need much help, even at 73. But, I am having trouble getting simple things like replacement hearing aid batteries and getting my doctors paid for procedures already approved and performed. I can only imagine the problems others must face with more complex issues. How long before doctors and health care facilities simply refuse veterans because they don't get paid?
My Congressman, Don Young, passed away recently and his seat is still vacant. Senators Murkowski (Need I say more?) and Sullivan are useless or worse.

And yes the V.A. can be VERY slow to pay. I have gotten bills from the hospital that say “final notice” etc.
I don’t know what will happen if the V.A. gets to the point they just don’t pay at all.

Crist....once a Republican, than an Independent, now a Democrat....so you can see also of no value....but, I call anyway.....gets it off my chest. And, biggest laugh is Crist is running against DeSantis.....LOL.
