Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) appeared in a campaign ad for Rep. David McKinley (R-W.Va.) released on Friday as the congressman faces a primary match-up against Trump-endorsed challenger and fellow GOP Rep. Alex Mooney (W.Va.)
“I’ve always said if I can’t go home and explain it, I can’t vote for it. And that’s why I opposed Build Back Better. For Alex Mooney and his out-of-state supporters to suggest David McKinley supported Build Back Better is an outright lie,” Manchin says in the 30-second ad.
“David McKinley has always opposed reckless spending because it doesn’t make sense for West Virginia. Alex Mooney has proven he’s all about Alex Mooney. But West Virginians know David McKinley is all about us,” he finished.
Manchin spokesperson Sam Runyon told The Hill that “the ad speaks for itself,” when asked if the West Virginia Democrat’s appearance in the ad was an indication that he was endorsing McKinley.
Mooney, meanwhile, slammed the ad, saying in a tweet, “Further proof David McKinley is a complete and total RINO. Democrat Joe Manchin is endorsing him.”

Helluva thing in a Republican primary!
West Virginia primary is May 10th.
A couple of us drove over from the Maryland suburbs of DC to campaign for Alex in 2014 general.
Almost as bad as McCain endorsing Obama when he was running against him.
Manchin is Deep State’s.
..and the democrat willingly participates. It is just one big show to them.
He’s a bigger whore than AOC.
Well, of course he is.
Deep State likes them stupid and venal.
Manchin is a RINO in jackass clothing.
Neither one is worth a bucket of cold goat phlegm.
By that I mean Mooney and McKinley
Manchin and Sinema are democrats that voted against Biden’s programs when the chips were down. It’s one thing to sit in the bleachers as a republican and vote against communism. It’s another to buck your own party and vote for sanity.
McKinley’s has a 64% rating from the ACU. Mooney has a 92% Conservative rating. This is a no-brainer. If left-wing Manchin backs McKinley, you know he’s rotten.
Nothing was as bad as that.
WV allows independents to vote in the primaries for either party - though Democrats cannot.
This must be what they are going for.
Manchin shows as being popular in the state at large but among just the Republican base most likely not as much.
I appreciate that.
I don’t appreciate his vote for lib judges including Justice-designate Woke Sista or his interfering in a GOP primary to pimp a RINO against a conservative that may run against him in 2024 when he needs to GO.
