The head of Russia's space agency said the country would leave the International Space Station, per Bloomberg.
"The decision has been taken already, we're not obliged to talk about it publicly," said Dmitry Rogozin on state TV.
Rogozin, the general director of Roscosmos, criticized Western-imposed economic sanctions against Russia.
The head of Russia's space agency on Saturday said that the country would leave the International Space Station, which Moscow said is the result of economic sanctions imposed as a result of the country's conflict in Ukraine, according to Bloomberg.
Two Russian state news agencies — Tass and RIA Novosti — on Saturday reported that Roscosmos General Director Dmitry Rogozin said in an interview that the decision had already been affirmed.
"The decision has been taken already, we're not obliged to talk about it publicly," he reportedly said on state television. "I can say this only — in accordance with our obligations, we'll inform our partners about the end of our work on the ISS with a year's notice."
Rogozin earlier in April blasted the litany of Western economic sanctions imposed on Russia, stating that Roscosmos would halt cooperation on the International Space Station with NASA and the European Space Agency.
"I believe that the restoration of normal relations between partners in the International Space Station and other joint projects is possible only with the complete and unconditional lifting of illegal sanctions,"

Dumb russans just started to outfit its new module.. I think the old basstard is lying his a$$ off
Let them back out. Then they will lose all the skills they have in space. All they’ll remember is to build a bunch of missiles and that’ll probably be it.
They put the first human and satellite in space. Not bad for those who see russians as a bunch of cave dwellers
Sell the Russian modules to Musk and Spacex.
CC
Those days are over though. Russians are so corrupt nowadays that they'll steal from each other so they'll never get anything built.
“Russians are so corrupt nowadays that they’ll steal from each other so they’ll never get anything built”.
You’re right. And the Americans are just as corrupt.
Wrong.
I have a fisher Space Pen somewhere,
I also have some pencils, both work well in space.
Unfortunately the space window for humans is closing quickly
And they sent NASA astronauts to the ISS during the period when NASA couldn’t.
There is very little difference. There are not that many countries in the world who are more corrupt than the US.
If that’s what you believe.....
Yeah. When Putin was still rational.
And that raises an interesting point. When the cold war ended the U.S could have launched an all out effort to co-opt Russia into a great cooperation. With a view to China’s rise. After all, if the U.S was able to hold German and Japanese in their loving embrace, why not Russia. But the cold war warriors were miffed they never got direct action against Russia itself. And so any deep coming together was thwarted except for some limited co-operation
No Russian will appear rational to a westerner. No more than an indian hindu or chinese han does. They think differently, have different national intererests and objectives. What’s rational about a nation run by a human potato. Very scary
A blown opportunity by Bull Clinton. Boris Yeltsin was a drunk. Then it was too late.
It’s not a matter of believing, it’s a matter of fact.
If I want to see decent humans doing real space, I'll watch "The Right Stuff" (which nobody has any longer).
Trump tried to set up a better relationship with Russia, but
then the Left decided to go all-in on the Russian Collusion
scam.
By the time they got going, Trump couldn’t have met with
Putin if Putin volunteered to pay off the U. S. national debt.
That was mostly on the CLINTONS, they treated the Russians like shit and made no effort whatso ever to partner with them either economically or otherwise.
