JAKARTA, Indonesia — Indonesia’s President Joko Widodo says that both Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin have agreed to attend the Group of 20 (G-20) summit to be held in Bali in November.

Zelensky is NOT a member of the G-20. They’re trying to get Putin to cop out. He won’t...but Zelensky will.
They may not bury the hatchet, but they can split the gold.

For Ukraine not being a NATO country or a member of G-20 Zelensky seems to have an outsized influence on the world stage. Every week he’s having some high visibility confab with world leaders. Just saying.
And why aggravate things. Will everyone be kissing his boots? What a dumb a** move.

I was not aware that Ukraine was part of the G-20: Ukraine is not one of the member nations; it is not part of the EU; and it is not a “permanently invited” country.
This is some kind of PR move.

Makes sense. Invite the leader of the 61st economy to a top 20 meeting. Then again, Greta Thunberg was the main speaker last time…
They could resolve it with a slap-fight.

Zelensky is being used like a knife to jab at Putin. No decent host would invite two feuding parties to the same event. At the best, it would turn the event into another battlefield and subtract from whatever the event was supposed to be about. (At worst, someone gets assassinated.) Also, given the war it would be a good idea to avoid the event entirely. A smaller side meeting focused on, say avoiding world starvation because of the war, would be better use of time and people. Besides, what are they going to talk about with Putin sitting at the table, more bad things they’re going to do to Russia?
Besides the girls are hot.
It will be turned into another circus and photo op for the pols.
