In California The USPS charging their vehicles is likely to blow the fuse for the entire state LOL.
If they go through with EVs & they don’t pan out, then all that money went down the drain, didn’t it? On the other hand, the gas vehicles they’ve been using seem to have held up for a very long time from what I’ve seen. They pollution they are said to have caused sure doesn’t show up in any meaningful way where I live. The gas mileage doesn’t count for much if an EV catches fire or is stuck out on the road somewhere with a dead battery.
How about no mail delivery to those 16 states? F ‘em.
I’m not getting as much “snail mail” as I used to. Often these days I go to my mailbox and find it empty. Shouldn’t that mean gas consumption by the Postal Service is going down?
Nope...not true.
Internal combustion engine trucks will last the next 30 years or they get electric trucks and the batteries go out in ten years so they will have to get all the batteries replaced. At that price, it’s like buying a new fleet all over again.
The Postal Service has enough problems without these wackos getting in the way of them trying to continue operating in the most efficient way. Electric vehicles have not proven themselves to be trouble free yet. It is too soon to switch to them now.
This seems like a smart plan...buy a few electrics & see what happens. Maybe it would help to quiet down the Eco-Freaks. The USPS would by then have a good idea on where to move forward. The electrics should be placed in varying climates; maybe splitting them between the east coast & the west coast.
