Russia has been forced to merge and redeploy depleted and disparate units from failed advances in northeast Ukraine, a British military update said on Saturday.
'Shortcomings in Russian tactical coordination remain. A lack of unit-level skills and inconsistent air support have left Russia unable to fully leverage its combat mass, despite localised improvements,' the military tweeted.

Ukraine continues to carry out attacks behind Russian lines to cut off vital supply routes, with a fuel dump in the Donetsk region catching fire today.
Kyiv has not acknowledged carrying out any of the attacks - which have also hit railway bridges and ammo dumps - but is widely thought to be orchestrating them.
Russia is pouring troops into the battle in Donbass in an effort to force a bloody victory having been defeated in its initial aim to storm in Kyiv, topple the government, and install a puppet regime loyal to Moscow.
After it became apparent they did not have sufficient force to take the capital, Russia's generals yanked their units out, patched them up as best they could, and then threw them back into the fight in Donbas.

I'll be waiting for your desperate attempt to try to spin that into a win for the Biden regime. It will be very amusing to watch.
Really?
Not going to happen unless Russia mobilizes for war. They will have to call all their reserves. I haven't seen any indications that they are going to do that.
It’s good to be a tyrant.🤔
Cartoons are sad substitute for a coherent argument.
The juvenile mind set and immaturity is telling isn’t it?
Good Lord. That has to be terrifying from the receiving end. Frags from nowhere.
Thanks for taking time to build this informative post. It contained a lot of useful information.
Aside from dealing with immediate battlefield threats, the UA would be smart to prowl the Russian rear areas with its drones to locate and destroy Russian soft skinned vehicles.
Such vehicles are normally associated with combat support and combat service support functions, especially supply, maintenance, and communications. They tend to be produced in smaller numbers and are often operated by specialist troops. So they (the specially configured vehicles and the technically trained soldiers) are not easily replaced. Knocking out…say, a motor vehicle maintenance unit may be more damaging in the long term than destroying a similar number of combat vehicles since the former unit is needed to keep the latter operating. Ditto for food, water, fuel, ammunition. The consumption rates on these commodities are significant and resupply must be continuous. Any interruption …
Of course, the same applies to the UA and there have been reports of Russian attacks on manufacturing plants, as well. Occasionally, the Russians even hit what they are actually targeting.
Compared to similar sized wars since 1945 the aid getting to Ukraine is rather small. Compare to, for instance, what the US sent to Israel in 1973. A few thousand ATGM amd Manpads, and 10,000-odd antitank rocket launchers, plus apparently a few thousand small arms.
Only just now are heavy weapons showing up - 200 Polish tanks, 50 German flakpanzers and @100 US/Canadian howitzers. Given what the Ukrainians already had thats nice but fairly minor, as the Ukes already had 1000+ tanks (active and reserve) etc, etc.
Its probable that the most important assistance anyone has yet provided the Ukes is information.
You need more historical depth in order to judge these things.
Exactly, Putin’s plan was all the while to have half the guys in each battalion killed, in order the merge the two in one battle-hardened battalion.
More Putin genius:
1. Have thousands of armored vehicles destroyed in order to sink Ukraine!
Remember the ... the ... you know, that ship!
2. Give militias of the People’s Republic of Donetsk vintage weapons worth thousands of dollars to collectors.
Can Putin help it if the Donetsk fighters aren’t aware of the value of these things on eBay?
3. Exhaust the limited supplies of western anti-tank guided missiles by sending obsolete T-72s into Ukraine.
Now what does NATO have to stop the 14 Armata tanks? I mean, the Armata-14 tanks?
4. Send an entire army of Russians into Ukraine to drink all the vodka.
What, no vodka? Quick, let’s join back to Russia. Who can stand German beer or - my God! - French wine?
5. Cut off gas sales to western Europe.
You can stop buying gas from us! We are stopping sales of gas to you.
Please, its a proxy war with a united civilized West arming Ukraine. ' WWII ally Russia' has been at war with the US for a long time.
Another Russian general sent to hell in Izyum yesterday! Boom!
Wait til China sends in ten Million Troops for massive Human Wave attacks —with hardened European hating Chinese who will kill all they find—all sick with Covid! Things could be alot worse.
thanks Cathi,good stuff
The UA is employing buggies with ATMs on them for hit and run raids - is article about that on the War Zone.
Russians have deployed combat dolphins at their sub pens in Sevastopol where they load Kalibr missiles on subs. The total combined smart missile launches are about 30 a day. How long can they sustain that rate?
UA is using rockets and drones to hit military and energy infrastructure inside Russia - someone even sabotaged a big electrical power plant in the Far East.
It seems when bureaucrats steel money meant for defense the military becomes inept....we should be weary of this with our own military.....especially when Democrats are in charge!!!!!!
Looks like the Russian sortis were heavy today. Any weaponry the west is sending in it’s getting destroyed immediately. Biden’s latest 33 billion will be wiped out in a matter of weeks.
