Biomedical research—a broad term covering studies on subjects ranging from cells to experimental animal models—is the starting point for understanding how diseases develop and how we might prevent or treat them. Once such studies have been performed successfully, similar tests can be carried out in humans. These clinical trials form the highest branch of biomedical research.
Biomedical studies have traditionally used male animals and men as research subjects, and the knowledge we have obtained from this research has been applied to both sexes on the assumption that what works for males must also work for females.
Until recently, these studies hardly ever considered sex—the biological attributes of humans and animals—or gender, the socially constructed characteristics of men, women and gender-diverse people.
That is a problem for everyone, because there are sex differences in how many diseases affect people.
Sex differences in health conditions
Pre-menopausal women are less likely to develop diabetes than men or post-menopausal women. Differences like these are critical, given that the elevated levels of blood glucose that define diabetes can lead to life-threatening stroke and heart attacks.

I am triggered!
I’m no MD but I think I know that (1) women don’t have to worry about prostate problems and (2) men shouldn’t concern themselves with cervical cancer.
You cannot reason someone out of a delusion. You're wasting your time.
I don’t get ovarian or breast cancer. My wife doesn’t get prostate cancer. Who knew? This is an amazing medical breakthrough!
Fascinating! Now do race . . .
Let me know when Dr Jill gets prostate cancer
I am so glad we have “scientists” to explain these things. 🤓
In that case, I'm going to identify as a pre-menopausal woman, to lower my odds of becoming diabetic.
Scientists brainwashed in academia to believe unisex theories.
“I don’t get ovarian or breast cancer. My wife doesn’t get prostate cancer”
1% of breast cancer occurs in men.
Body size and mass also affect a lot of health issues and dosing; no one discusses that.
This is not new. This is 30 years old and older.
That info is ages old! God created them male and female. The males with the physical and mental make up to be providers and protectors; females to bear children and nurture them.
More than that, of course, but each gender had a job to do in life, separate and distinct.
“I don’t get ovarian or breast cancer.”
men can and do get breast cancer.
As recently as 2018, it used to be the position of established medicine to openly recognized sex differences. Now they are all remaining quiet. It’s sickening.

American College of Physicians’ Position on U.S. Women’s Health Policy
(Ann Intern Med. 2018 May 29;e-pub)
• Women face unique health challenges across their lifetimes, and policies should be implemented to improve their health outcomes, according to a position paper. These include provision of appropriate training for clinicians in all specialties and fields in health issues of particular relevance to women.
• Women typically live longer than men and exhibit differences in disease expression and reaction to medications; thus, women can be particularly affected by healthcare costs, access issues, and discriminatory policies. The Health and Public Policy Committee of the American College of Physicians (ACP) has therefore made the following seven recommendations to improve the health of U.S. women.
You mean that sex is a biological reality and not what someone thinks he is? Who would have guessed?
If I get a male-only disease but then I begin to identify as a woman, isn’t the disease magically cured? Biology be damned, I am what I think I am according to modern pop science.
And to think, we need “experts” to tell us these things.
Good point. I stand corrected.
