Twitter Earnings Fall Short as Company Admits Overstating User Numbers

Social media platform Twitter recently published its earnings report for the first quarter of 2022, falling short of expectations. The Company also admitted it had overstated its daily active users for several years, supposedly by error. The earnings report is expected to be Twitter’s final report as a public company following Elon Musk’s successful bid to take the company private.

CNBC reports that Twitter has reported earnings for the first quarter of 2022 amidst Elon Musk’s successful bid to purchase the company and take it private. CNBC has summarized the report which can be seen below:

Translation. All those bot accounts belong to twitter itself so they need to get rid of them before Musk's people go in and find out. Oops, those 1.9 million accounts never really existed, we goofed.

assuming the article is stating the user overestimates worldwide not just in the US it seems to be by like 1% only.

can advertisers claw back any of that money for fraud??

What company doesn’t want to know exactly how many customers, subscribers, users, etc. it has? Its some of the most elemental data a company gathers. Management places huge importance on ACCURATE numbers.
