Congressional Democrats try to go on offensive as gas prices worsen
Washington Examiner ^ | Apr 28, 2022 | Kate Scanlon

Top congressional Democrats on Thursday announced legislation they said would lower gas prices for consumers, as rising costs imperil Democrats' chances of maintaining their majorities in November’s elections.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said they would bring legislation to their respective chambers giving the Federal Trade Commission more authority to combat gasoline price manipulation. The lawmakers blamed Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine as a factor in rising costs, as well as what they called profiteering by “Big Oil.”.....

In response to a question about arguments from Republicans that the United States should increase its own domestic energy production in response to rising costs, Pelosi and Schumer argued oil companies are not doing so, instead looking to increase their own profits.

Schumer and Pelosi argued that Democrats' legislation would reduce costs while saying Republicans were looking to score political points by blaming President Joe Biden and Democrats for rising prices.

“Democrats are taking action to help Americans. Our Republican colleagues only lift a finger — finger, point blame, try to seek political advantage, get nothing done,” Schumer said.

Never, ever give the Government (any level) more power.

Hopefully most Americans will continue to see Dems as the oil problem.

The Dems disgust me. As always the game is find a way to blame the Reps, so they introduce legislation they believe most Reps will vote against. Then they run deceptive ads in their districts and states say, in essence, "See. The Republicans are for higher gas prices."

Sometimes these sorts of tactics are little more than political gamesmanship, but this time it comes at a terrible cost to average Americans.

This is an rotting albatross around their necks, an they’re trying to shake it off.

It's the ultimate campaign yard sign that everybody sees and everybody is impacted by. Unless gasoline is under $2.80ish or so in November, they're gonna need a LOT of fraud.

There is no manipulation cause OIL has gone up over 100% so they got to be talking raising taxes on the rest of US!

Here, here is how they talk:

We see no reason to invade Ukraine and we never intend to or will.

The problem the Dems have is when you screw up enough different things, there comes a point where trying to fix one just makes the others worse.

Presumably they’ve done polling and decided that gasoline prices are the biggest Cluster F they’ve caused, and their solution is to blame it on those who tried to prevent it, and paper the problem over. Meanwhile, other stuff is continuing to go wrong.

Yup...and they and CNN control the language so they'll call it the "gasoline price relief act" or some such thing. Then say that evil republican X voted against the gasoline price relief act. They're so predictable.
