I smoked cigarettes in my 20’s. I would occasionally be in the mood for menthol and would buy a pack; but for 99% of my smoking days, I did not care for them. I did not find them “more addictive” or even smoother. The menthol added harshness, IMO.

Why ban menthol? It is none of their business. Menthol is a minty flavor which a lot of folks enjoy.
I don't smoke but why mess with someone's enjoyment? Menthol is merely a flavor and it is not dangerous.

Menthol is actually added to all cigarettes in small amounts to improve the taste. This law is really just a difference in degree and not in kind. If they think this is such a great idea, why not have a law that requires the manufacturers to put in additives that make smoking even more unpleasant and irritating? Why stop with cigarettes? Maybe they should make certain cheap alcohol products favored by homeless people taste disgusting to cure them of alcoholism. Do they really think people are so stupid?

YUGE brand new market for menthol cigs manufactured on injun reservations ... then purchased in bulk by re-sellers who in turn transport and sell blackmarket menthols on street corners in the hoods ... pretty soon, it’ll be taken over by organized gangs, driving out the original “entrepreneurs”, which in turn will spark vicious gang wars fought over territories ... gee, seems like we’ve heard about this happening before ...
