The United States is considering the possibility of transferring frozen funds of the Central Bank of Russia to Ukraine

The US authorities are considering the possibility of transferring assets of the Bank of Russia frozen in the United States to Ukraine.

This was stated by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken at a hearing in the Senate Appropriations Committee.

The question now, Blinken said, is whether there are legal provisions in the US that allow forfeiture. This issue is being considered by the staff of the Ministry of Justice.

"We're working very closely with the US Treasury and Justice Departments to explore how we can effectively freeze and seize assets," Blinken said.

During the discussion of this issue, Senator Patrick Leahy said that the US Federal Reserve has frozen almost $100 billion of the Central Bank of Russia.

At the end of February, the European Union banned its citizens from all transactions with the Bank of Russia and persons acting on its behalf and at its direction. The United States made a similar decision: American citizens were forbidden to conduct transactions with the Russian Central Bank, as well as with the Ministry of Finance and the National Welfare Fund.

Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said that due to Western sanctions, Russia has lost access to almost half of its gold and foreign exchange reserves - about $300 billion out of about $640 billion.

We are less corrupt. I’ve been to Russia, and saw how in day-to-day civilian transactions, corruption and graft was the rule.

Not so in America. I don’t have to bribe a plumber to show up, I just pay what he initially requests. I don’t have to grease the palms of a mortgage agent to get my mortgage approved.

At the highest levels, yes, America is equally corrupt. And over time, I expect it will trickle down to the populace.... but that will take time.

This is extremely short sighted. Why keep your money in any western monetary system? I even have doubts after what happened in Canada.

Freezing assets is one thing. Turning those assets over to a third party is quite another. The Ukraine would have to put a claim in for assets and it would have to go through a legal process.

What’s more stunning is they all have rapid dogs fighting in Ukraine - meanwhile US/Nato vs. Russia war continues to arm and fight for such a dump as Ukraine.....

“All of the frozen reserves should go to Ukraine to defend and rebuild.”

Half agree. The frozen funds are not the property of the Ukraine or anyone else except Russia. But until this thing is over, none of the funds should be transferred to the Ukraine as they are currently buying weapons to strike innocents inside Russian property. Where is the restitution of that? Because of who and what they hit, the Ukraines should be made to recompense for injury or loss, also. They are just as much in this civil war the same way as the Russians are when they hit targets outside their country.

But, the present day Ukraine is not the same Ukraine it was. Both sides, Russia and Ukraine, are hopelessly corrupt.

Exactly! Anybody with half a brain can see that.

The Biden Brigade on here thinks that if you don’t worship Zelensky and have posters of him on your bedroom walls, you’re a “Putin Puffer.” (What a childish phrase.) They both suck. They’re both selfish and corrupt.

The Zelensky fanbois can’t see beyond their infatuation.

If we pass it on to Ukraine, Biden’s corrupt Ukraine cronies will get the biggest pay day of their lives.

There is such a thing as mutually assured destruction.

Yes. There. Is. And it is quite possibly one of the most real things in the modern world.

Better than having them planted firmly on the posterior of a murderous despot like Putler and his many America-hating anti-freedom murderous despot friends around the world like China, Venezuela, Cuba, and Iran.

And isn’t it amazing how much vitriol sickos like this project at Zelensky??

Almost like they have an intense dislike of Jews...er sumthin.

Sickos like this project such vitriol at Ukraine and Ukrainians. They are apparently expendable and unworthy of life cuz their country has issues.

It wasn’t a “dump” before, but Putler has turned it into one now.

Their problems of corruption were largely due to Russian-system caused poverty and the attendant Russian mafia-style corruption that goes with it.

"No I don't agree. Even the spineless Euroweenies won't agree to this degree of insanity, or even an attempt."

Well, the Biden's go around stealing everything that isn't nailed down, so I guess they figured the Russians were next..

Thanks for mentioning Canada. I find it amazing, truly amazing that so many Freepers were upset when the Canadian government stole money from go fund me which was meant to help the truckers.

Yet the same Freepers think it is perfectly fine for the United States to steal money from Russia.

It’s not our business.
