“Musk doesn’t control Twitter. Bezos could come in and outbid him. He won’t because Twitter isn’t worth 44 billion”

So you’re a better businessman (or woman) than Elon Musk?

Twitter is not worth 44 billion.

It is entirely possible that IF Musk doesn’t have a secret hidden agenda (like with Starlink) that he may end up in a master troll move. Expose twitter and bail. Either by paying the billion dollar penalty or finding something to kill the deal.

My point is that so many people in the media AND HERE...don’t get that Musk isn’t in control yet and a myriad of things could go wrong..INCLUDING Twitter invoking the disparagement clause. Musk is pushing the boundaries on that one. Probably intentionally.

If Libs are so opposeD to Musk they can join together and outbid him. HE DOES NOT OWN TWITTER YET.

102. Doctors who use “Gendering affirming” drugs or surgery are criminals in the same league as Dr. Mengele.

103. All cultures are not equal.

I’m sure that we can also come up with dozens more things that should be openly talked about, and not just on Twitter.

It isnt hard to outbid Musk. You just have to be willing to do it. Find the financing. Get the people together.

Musk was pretty clear he wasn’t going to get into a bidding war.

So if the libs want twitter they can have it. Just get the big dogs together. The problem is that Twitter isn’t worth 44 billion and they probably don’t want to spend their money to buy it.

Musk thinks it is.
7 other investment firms think it is.
Maybe Twitter isn’t in its current state, but Musk is a visionary. He looks forward.
Musk put up $21 billion, the remainder are independent loans.

I’m well aware things are not completed yet.
Capital letters don’t prove your point.

Musk put out a bid that was higher than the current stock price. It doesn’t mean he thinks it’s worth that amount.

It’s the amount that forced the Board’s hand to go from Poison Pill to being worried about DeSantis and others suing.

Why is Musk risking an invocation of the disparagement clause?

I am not so sure he is going to buy Twitter. He can accomplish a lot without buying.

We will see what ends up happening but is nowhere near even a 90 percent chance this is a done deal.

It could blow up after he gets access to critical info.

For everyone that is spouting that twitter is worth 44 billion just step back and think about this for a minute.

Libs are in a panic over Musk buying Twitter.

Twitter adopted a poison pill strategy to prevent Musk from getting his hands on it.

They tried to find a White Knight to save them from shareholder lawsuits...like from DeSantis . NO ONE..and I mean NO ONE wants Twitter at 44 billion plus one dollar...even when libs are in a panic they can’t find a White Knight for it.

So SOLD to the highest bidder that they hate and are traumatized over.

It’s not worth 44 billion. Maybe Musk has a plan..maybe it’s a troll..or maybe he doesn’t care about 44 billion. Who knows. He is eccentric.

Whatever the case..so far...no wants this company at 44 billion but Musk

And the key is, Twitter would be worth 44 billion, and perhaps more, if they hadn’t been restricting free speech which caused many people to stop using it.

Their editorial policies are what caused their company’s valuation to be low enough that no one was willing to outbid Musk for it.

how many subscriptions do you have to sell at what price over how many users over what time frame to recoup your 44 billion with no ads.

Musk is eccentric enough to waste 44 billion to free speechify twitter and lose his money.

Just not sure that is really what’s happening. Hidden agenda.

The whole kneeling thing was a cynical co-option of a traditional lowkey but decidedly Christian reaction on the part of coaches and players during a game or at a practice to a situation in which a player was apparently hurt, was laying on the ground, and was receiving emergency medical attention, a prayerlike posture demonstrating collective concern about the player’s welfare and a recognition and respect for the things that are really important in life (e.g., good health, demonstrating empathy etc.).

He seems to have already said he doesn’t care as much about the overall economics of the deal so much as the positive impact he sees it as having upon the health if in free speech in the U.S. (and presumably elsewhere as well).

Twitter is not worth 44 billion.

Nobody disputes that Twitter is overvalued at 44 billion. Every financial analyst I've heard concluded Twitter was a dying platform before Musk showed any interest.

What you are unwilling to accept in your arguments is that Musk submitted his bid with complete understanding of Twitters slow slide into financial oblivion.

When Musk was told by the naysayers buying Twitter was no way to make money his reply was, But yeah, I don't care about the economics at all.”.

If Libs are so opposed to Musk they can join together and outbid him. HE DOES NOT OWN TWITTER YET.

Lots of investment firms have already looked at Twitter's financials. All of them passed because they care about the economics. Libs are very opposed to Musk but you are asking them to lose their money to make a political statement for nothing in return if they were successful. I think they would prefer to lose a lot less by donating to the DNC and getting something later. At this point any attempt to stop Musk by Twitter would probably lead to legal action against them by their shareholders led by Musk. 38% ROI wins a lot of arguments.

Charles Gasparino nailed it. Suggest you read this

So...not worth 44 billion....it will be hard to recoup his 44 billion unless he has a hidden agenda..which he might.

I honestly do not believe this is a “let me lose 25 billion dollars just to free Twitter”. Something else is at play.

But he is eccentric enough to be willing to lose his whole stash..it just doesn’t seem likely.

And there is quite the possibility that this deal never goes through. I put it at 60/40 at the moment that he will pull the trigger with about a 20% chance that the disparagement clause comes into play.

To be clear like Joe and Jen, I meant is not worth 44 billion right now because of how Twitter is being currently run.

If and/or when the deal is successfully closed I would expect nothing but a serious effort to record a profit on Twitter's balance sheet by Musk within an agreed upon time-frame.

We will know soon enough if the deal is a fait accompli. Lots of info on terms of the deal at Tech Crunch.
