"More than half" of the howitzers the United States has designated to go to Ukraine have arrived as of Wednesday, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said. The U.S.'s military assistance to Ukraine since Russia invaded Feb. 24 includes 90 155 mm howitzers, large artillery guns that are operated by a team of about 10 people; 72 tactical vehicles to tow the howitzers; and 183,000 155 mm artillery rounds. “Without giving whole numbers, more than half of those howitzers are in Ukraine,” Kirby said during Wednesday’s briefing. He also said the first group of Ukrainian officers to be trained on the howitzers, roughly 50 people, had completed it….

Should I be happy or sad?
That’s good for about four days before destroyed.
Proxy wars.
Let’s go Brandon.
Puity will not be happy.
Wall Steet Journal via MSN, 4/25/22:
“U.S. Wants to See Russia Weakened, Says Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin After Ukraine Visit” Raytheon Austin that is.
This was never about protecting Ukraine, this is a proxy war and was always about Russia. NATO will fight to the last Ukrainian while the U.S. has 130% debt to GDP ratio, $200 trillion in unfunded liabilities, we’re broke, have rampant stagflation, shelling out billions to protect Ukraine’s borders when we don’t even protect our own.
WION, Gravitas Plus: Did NATO push Ukraine into war?
“Ukraine conflict has been ‘westsplained’ enough. On Gravitas Plus, Palki Sharma tells you how Western arrogance & NATO’s expansionism are also to blame, how their actions precipitated the crisis in Ukraine.”
And Zelensky gets his 10% too:
6.) The Dutch conservative party Forum voor Democratie called for verification of the origin of US$850 million in income from Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky.
“According to various estimates, Zelensky’s fortune is estimated at US$850 million. He did not receive most of this amount until he became president,” the Twitter statement said.

Nope, Rossiya not stronk enough to do that.
Rossiya weak.
My understanding was that Cold War artillery was tracked because they would get off 5, maybe 10 rounds, then relocate before the counter battery fire started coming in, based on radar tracking of the outgoing rounds pointing directly at the firing gun.
Here we have towed artillery which cannot be quickly moved.
Am I missing something here?
This virtually guarantees the Russians will destroy all of these weapons. It is so provocative by the U.S., we can bet on a direct war between Russia and the USA.
The U.S. Defense Department is being run by lunatics risking the death and destruction of America.
A lot more Ukrainians will die and more of their country will be destroyed.
This junk is being uploaded for PR reasons and to clean the old stocks to make way for new defense contracts.
They think mentally ill men are woman who should be in the the most sensitive positions in government.
The Biden regime (and the limp wristed EU) will fight Russia down to the last Ukrainian.
The globalhomos don’t care about dead Ukrainians.
Sounds right. 10% for the big guy?
Towed artillery is in the inventory because of its increased strategic mobility; it is easier to move by planes and landing craft.
Which is great for wars with unsophisticated enemies without the ability to locate firing artillery.
Gotta ask...
If the US is supplying howitzers to Ukraine...is it OK for Russia to supply suitcase nukes to Muslim terrorists residing in the US?
We may just find out.
2 or 3 lifetimes ago I crewed Army Chinooks. We flew missions called Arty Raids. Fly to coordinates, drop the gun, touch down, offload the gun crew, take off, wait for the crew to fire off 3 rounds, circle back, pick up the crew then sling the gun, fly to new coordinates...repeat as necessary throughout the night. All of these were 'towed' Arty pieces.
“That’s good for about four days before destroyed.”
How many more armored vehicles will you lose in those four days?
Lots and lots and lots.
L
Lots of “Cold War” artillery was not tracked. It’s easier to maintain, and good crews can hook a gun up to truck very quickly.anyway. Shooting and scooting is more necessary when the enemy has accurate counter-battery fire, tethered to good counter-mortar radar. Apparently, Russian counter-battery fire has been poor, and is likely to get worse.
