When Dorsey was in charge he was a complete POS.

Now he has Elon’s sword tip at his throat and will say anything.

Straight out of Shakespeare or something.

I confess I am at a loss to explain how twitter makes money. There are no fees, no ads. What gives?

Twitter makes the majority of its revenue through ads, and secondarily through ‘data licensing’, whatever that is.

That’s what I was attempting to say.
Dorsey doesn’t believe what he said.
I trust Musk more than any billionaire.
He’s weird, but I’ll take a Libertarian over a globalist any day.

I don’t go there very often, but when I do I don’t see ads.

But yes, right after I posted I googled it. It is as you say.

Because the current CEO was appointed by the current board, so is presumably aligned with their interests and approach. So why would he want to trade that board for the unknown of Musk? Also, Twitter has become even more exclusionary of dissenting views in recent months under his leadership. So an I coming owner who has stated his intent to move in a different direction can't be something he hopes to have happen.

How Twitter Makes Money

Short version: Ad sales and user data sales. They operate at a loss. Many people have come to think it is not a profitable business model. That may be the case, even with free speech.

It’s one of those “famous for being famous” things. The advertising model attached to it doesn’t work, but big companies continue to buy ads because they heard that twitter has a big audience. Twitter then looks like a viable company because it has big advertisers. Rinse and repeat. It’s a house of cards.

twitter, google, and facebook are basically scams that sell things. And above all sell their targeted marking data to each other. I’m happy to use adblockers to be somewhat immune to it.

Although I do hear that ‘liberty liberty’ jingle in my head after just a few plays.

Dorset pretendingto be pro voice now that elon is owner is like Liz Cheney or lindsay graham or mitt romney pretending to be solid republicans when election time rolls around

Dorsey stands to get a billion dollars in cash from this deal when it is finalized later this year.

So it's no surprise he will be kissing Elon's butt and calling him the messiah.

To the right of my screen I get a few “what’s trending” links and a couple of “who to follow” links. I forgot that stuff is even there. It may be that I use the Avast browser, and I’m just not seeing ads.

...‘maximally trusted and broadly inclusive’ is the right one. This is also @paraga’s goal, and why I chose him.

This is where he looses me...

I don’t see Musk as a globalist true believer.
I think he’s a Libertarian that actually believes in free speech.
I also don’t think Truth Social is a competitor to Twitter.
Truth Social is for people that are already Trump people and probably lib trolls.
Twitter has far greater reach and could convert some middle ground people.
In the end votes matter.

If you think there’s no hope of winning because of fraud, spare me your negativity.

And never forget that Dorsey is almost entirely to blame for the S#it show that twitter became. It went from an ok place to being a tyrannical leftist dystopia under him.

Musk is in this to make money and gain position. I don’t think he’s some big conservative savior at all.
