Twitter has accepted Elon Musk’s offer to purchase the company for $45.5 billion, finishing days of contentious discussions between Musk and the company’s board.
In an SEC filing on Friday, Musk laid his plan for funding the deal, which includes $25 billion in loans and $22 billion in personal equity. Analysts believe the loans could cost Twitter as much as $1 billion a year in service costs, or roughly 20 percent of the company’s annual revenue.
Shortly after Musk announced the buyout plan, Twitter’s board instituted a “poison pill” measure, suggesting it intended to resist Musk’s buyout. It’s unclear what led to the company’s change of heart. A New York Times report on Monday described Twitter employees as divided by the news, receiving little information concerning the ongoing talks.
A master at work!
Time will tell just how much, but there’s a disturbance in the Force today...
BOOM! Shakalaka. Any reported demise of twits yet?
It took a capitalist billionaire to institute a free speech on a progressive website

It’s just Rob Reiner freaking out.

Is Trump back on?
Excellent!
I’m blown away impressed - and that never happens...
Trump said he would not be back on twitter no matter what happens.
Let’s see what happens...I’ve never done twitter...but it might happen.
Well, we’ll see what happens. If certain people are reinstated, such as one Donald John Trump, former and perhaps future US President, and if people’s followers aren’t still being stealth-eliminated, except for the ridding of actual bots, then I would be willing to rejoin.
Some initial thoughts?
The Board started to represent shareholders more and users/stakeholders less (the Board has a duty to shareholders not user/stakeholders);
The Board knows their financial results to be released this week are not so good;
I am hoping Musk takes apart the software enabled viewpoint discrimination at Twitter - and publicizes as such. Yes, Twitter will still be a sewer but it will be illuminating to see what was going on behind the curtain.
I believe Twitter is run on AWS servers. So Bezos is actually in control.
Now start firing people wholesale.

“DOGEcoin is up 20%”
Up 10%. Down 70% from April.
I don’t know if Musk is a good guy; I hope he is.
Regardless, I accept this as good news.
Big salute to Mr. Musk, one of the finest African-Americans in US history.
Make that:
