U.S. Wants to See Russia Weakened, Says Defense Secretary Austin
Wall Street Journal via MSN ^ | 25 April 2022 | William Mauldin, Thomas Grove

U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said Russia’s military capabilities should be degraded after he and Secretary of State Antony Blinken met with Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky and announced more U.S. military aid to the country.

“We want to see Russia weakened to the degree that it can’t do the kinds of things that it has done in invading Ukraine,” Mr. Austin said Monday after the highest-level visit of U.S. officials to Kyiv since Russia invaded Ukraine on Feb. 24. Mr. Blinken said: “Russia is failing, Ukraine is succeeding.”

In what could be a significant escalation of the conflict on Monday, large fires broke out at fuel-storage facilities in the Russian region of Bryansk, some 60 miles from the border with Ukraine, as well as at a nearby military fuel depot, Russian state media said. Russian missiles struck railroad targets in central Ukraine early Monday.

Did you read the whole statement?

“weakened to the degree that it can’t do the kinds of things that it has done in invading Ukraine”

Only weakened to the degree it can’t invade its neighbours.

I see the upcoming midterms as being a bloodbath for Democrats.

Putin pushed himself into a corner by invading

If he had just threatened and then recognised dpr and lpr or absorbed them, then no one would have bordered.

But he invaded m targeting Kyiv, and he failed.

The Russian bear is looking increasingly like a teddy bear.

The fall in prestige due to its failures in the past months has shown the Russian eagle to be a chicken hawk at best.

I've never had softball sized hail here. Marble sized hail is supposed to not hurt the panels, especially at the steep angle my panels are installed. I guess we'll see. My homeowners insurance told me my solar panels are covered like any other roof damage (I had to make sure my homeowners coverage was enough).

For now there are no fees for disposable solar panels in Alabama.

You should step back and think a bit. You are supporting a policy from the same people who botched the Afghanistan withdrawal, want to get us back into Syria and think Iran deserves nuclear weapons.

Besides, the only way to truly "weaken" a nuclear power is to completely take them over militarily so no group inside the nation can get control of those weapons.

If you think we can take Russia's military offensive capability away without occupying the nation, please enlighten us.

As long as Russian forces remain in the Ukraine, they will bleed out, and Russia will become poorer.

It is like the saying, that no one is sent to Hell - they go there.

Russia’s own sins are bringing it down. No responsible Country can allow Russia to be rewarded for its monstrous barbarity against innocent people.

Putin is running far outside of civilized behavior, like a rabid dog.

Let’s first have you a swer my question.

In post 46 you wrote “So official US policy is to undermine and attack vital Russian national interests”

So I asked you if it is “Russian national interest to threaten and invade its neighbours?”

Is it?

Austin could show Russia how to weaken their military if Russia is interested in doing that: Replace Shoigu with an affirmative action defsec, Pfoozer vaccines for Russian soldiers, a main jet fighter like the F35 that aviation experts call a “flying pig”, diversity training for military officials.....

Our policy hasn't been anti-Russia for beginning of Putin's term.

The globalists hoped Putin would be weak enough that they could make the kind of money they have been making in Ukraine through similar dirty dealings. But, Putin reigned his country's oligarchs and prevented that.

Going by some long time Russian bloggers I’ve followed on and off for some time, who mostly used to blog about “life”, their culture, food, sports, travels (for many, limited to Russia or Russia and / or Europe), hobbies, etc.... The sanctions ARE hitting “average Alexander or Anastasia” substantially. Not that I think Pootie actually gives a damn about them, short of a mass revolt.
