Twitter Inc. is in discussions to sell itself to Elon Musk and could finalize a deal as soon as this week, people familiar with the matter said, a dramatic turn of events just 10 days after the billionaire unveiled his $43 billion bid for the social-media company.

The two sides met Sunday to discuss Mr. Musk’s proposal and were making progress, though still had issues to hash out, the people said. There is no guarantee they will reach a deal.

Twitter in Advanced Talks to Sell Itself to Elon Musk

The willingness of the company’s board to engage with Elon Musk represents a step forward.

Twitter is nearing a deal to sell itself to Elon Musk, two people with knowledge of the situation said, a move that would unite the world’s richest man with the influential social networking service.

Twitter’s board was negotiating with Mr. Musk into the early hours of Monday over his unsolicited bid to buy the company, after he began lining up $46.5 billion in financing for the offer last week, said the people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss confidential information. The two sides were discussing details including a timeline to close any potential deal and any fees that would be paid if an agreement were signed and then fell apart, they said.

Would love to see this happen. Would also love to see reality slap in the face those at Twitter who thought it was appropriate and just to dismiss and ban the opinions of those they don’t agree with or like. It’s about as anti-American as you can get, and if they don’t want to live in a free nation they should try living elsewhere.

I’m surprised at the speed this deal is happening. It is still not clear what Elon will try to do once he actually has a controlling interest in Twitter.
He says he wants to stop the Lib bias and censorship. We shall see if he really means it.

He would need to fire about half the staff to effectively enable free speech.

I think he’d be better than the nutballs running it now. The question i have is about the employees. If the majority of the engineers are equally nutballs and walk off, where does that leave you?

He’d also need to clean up nearly half the accounts that are bots. And that’ll reduce sub count which will reduce ad revenue.

Precisely the reason for my comment in #5.

Most recently seen in the Trump Presidency. I am in favor of completely eliminating current “Civil Service” laws. Everyone serves at the pleasure of the President. It couldn’t be worse than what we have now.

Some people have suggested he’ll make a fee-based ‘membership’....maybe basic at one-level, and premium at a higher level.

I would suggest one of the big five things he’ll do...break the company out of California (maybe by spring of 2023).

But I think we are looking at merely one single maneuver and not grasping that by summer of 2023....he’s likely got another company in his view (wouldn’t shock me if he bought CNN and revamped their product/stance as well). At the rate that Disney is collapsing....their stock will be less than $50 by mid-summer of 2023, and he might to go after them.

Musk seems to be very good at picking management types that are qualified. I don’t want him to get too stretched out though. I prefer he concentrate on SpaceX’s StarLink and Mars colony work.

Taking over Disney would be the ultimate coup though, would love to see it.

I support term limits for all gov't employment, appointments and elected officials.

The Founders wanted a "citizenry government" but the communists found a way around by creating a permanent government operating below the elected levels.

FYI, the existing management was planning to do that already. The Twitter Blue Checks were going nuts over it.

Also, the new owners of CNN are apparently running through the news room with hatchets and telling their staff to get off Twitter (this was before Elon started all this) and return to hard news.

In a position to hire good ones, right? No matter what, any normal company in high-tech needs strategies to detect and identify saboteurs, and possibly feed them to a den of wolverines through a trap-door in the floor. But I suspect he's thought about this.

They are probably working behind the scene to have the “financiers” who have pledged to join Musk in purchasing Twitter to pull their financing at the last minute to attempt to sabotage the deal.

Joke post?
He is Elon Musk.
Great software engineers want to work for him and work for him already at Tesla and SpaceX. The current very woke, crazy Twitter engineers can walk straight to hell as far as I am concerned. And good riddance.

They have been trying to do that for three weeks, and gotten nowhere. Musk just keeps advancing.

Musk needs Disney like a hole in the head. Disney is of no use to him.

Good. First move: Un-ban Trump. This would put Truth Social at a big disadvantage.
