DRIVERS have called for EV owners to pay their equal share of tax, claiming that electric vehicles still "pollute".
British motorists have been demanding further changes to make roads more equal by introducing a form of car tax for electric vehicle owners. Some of them claimed that electric vehicles “still pollute” as fuel is used to “generate the energy for a charger to charge a battery”.
The government unveiled some changes to car tax on April 1.
This included the Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) increase with drivers suffering from higher annual costs.
Company car tax, known as Benefit-in-Kind (BIK) has also changed, rising from one percent to two percent for fully electric vehicles and most petrol and diesel vehicles.
Despite the new changes, several British motorists think that more could be done.
With the debate over the future of taxation in the UK in full swing, proposals of pay-per-mile schemes have been voiced by drivers who believe that it will create a “fairer system”.
It is also believed that a road pricing scheme would help recover lost revenues from fuel duty, with all vehicles being charged based on how much they drive, including electric cars.

Time for a “Dumb Libtard Polluter Tax” 🤪
As far as I can tell, Electric Cars are generally silent.
They don’t have a combustible engine to make the familiar car noises one expects to hear when outside.
As a matter of safety, this may be something worth making a law about. Of course, there must be decible limitations and sound catagory limitations. Limit it to usual car horns.
They’ll do it here too - tax the goofy polluting battery cars by the mile.
It is the noiseless, speeding and swerving through sidewalks and pedestrians and traffic, electric motorbikes and scooters that were running over people when I worked in Brooklyn. Was walking (dodging) those 1-1/2 hours a day
They’ll tax all cars by the mile, plus gas tax.
Bank on it. Winners are those who have mechanical speedos we can unplug.
There will soon be a tax levied on a per mile basis and it should apply to all electric vehicles due to how they do pollute. There should also be a slavery tax fee since some batteries are built with lithium that is obtained with child slave labor. In the end or should i say at the end when one goes to trade in their EV there should also be an over 5000 dollar recycling and disposal fee applied. It costs over 5 grand to recycle every battery and we know the car dealers will not simply eat that fee.
oh no
they will include all cars
Let’s not even get into the batteries foe those things. Not only are the nickel and lithium mines extremely dirty and hazardous, but when the batteries reach 80% remaining capacity to hold a charge, it’s recommended that they be replaced. Most people who own the more expensive EV’s can afford to do this, and will. That’s a huge amount of waste.
welcome to" taxman" by the beatles
Be careful what you wish for......🙄
“Winners are those who have mechanical speedos we can unplug”
Nope. They collect your location data with cameras. If you drive anywhere but dirt roads, they’ve got your mileage. Welcom to the 21st century.
When all is said and done, BEVs will cost more to own and operate than ICE vehicles.
But that is how bait & switch works....and only your gov’t can get away with it.
Yep, people get hooked into buying electric cards thinking it will be cheaper then gas, then boom everyone gets charged by the miles they drive. Buttigeg mentioned this last year of charging by the mile.
Not only are the nickel and lithium mines extremely dirty and hazardous....

Yup.... Libs are famous for drawing the dotted line around wherever they like to define the ‘polluter’.
Wind turbines are completely pollution free.... until one travels to Baotou to see how rare earth magnets are mined and processed there.... and that is just one aspect of IWTs. The blades filling up landfill sites is another. I’m not sure where the ‘Baotou’ is for the lithium producers (or how many there are)... but I have no doubt they are out there.....and that too is just but one aspect of EV cars.

How about prepaying for the disposal of those batteries?
Rd later.
In their own fantasy world they’re not “polluting” if they believe electricity comes out of thin air, just like their meats, milk, cheese, and produce magically appear in their
city supermarkets!
The same mentality applies to all the plastics in their featherweight cars use, in place of metal — they have no idea that plastics come from petroleum.
Nineteen to one.
