The security is pretty good.
For example, the local Fedex offices have people who are pre-screened and have Navy ID. Even they can only get in the least controlled areas.
what was the vandalism; marking with a sharpy is considered vandalism?
“Politicians get an automatic “pass” on security clearances.”
Yeah, unlike people like me. I had to go through an EBI (Extensive Background Investigation) and FBI investigation to get my security clearances when I was in USAFSS (that was Air Force Intelligence back in the day). They interviewed employers, school friends, school teachers, neighbors; you name it. I even had to provide background information on ALL my British relatives (my Mom was an English girl, and came to the US to marry my Dad when she was just turning 21; they had met during the War).
Jethro Leroy Gibbs will get’em.
Ding, ding, ding - we have a thread winnah!
Yes
It is fortunately rare, but I know it's happened. One that comes to mind is a sailor peeing on the lagging on steam piping. They had to de-lag, clean, verify chloride free, and re-lag.
I know of several others too. Of course my memory runs over 30 years in the biz. SS is not perfect but they are a cut above the rest.
Exactly. Being closed up in a big, black air tank for months with a bunch of guys, everybody know everybody, and everybody knows who the dirtbags are.
That’s because it very likely said, “Let’s go Brandon” or “FJB.”
When I was pipefitter and working on WPPSS Nuclear Plant #2 (now Columbia Generating Station), we had to bring in some material from one of the offsite warehouses which are located on the property but outside the primary fence.
We were all cleared to work on the site, and we were using a site issued truck, coming from a site warehouse and the security guards went over our truck with a fine-tooth comb. As soon we pulled through, the Pepsi vendor truck drove up and the guards waved him right on through. We just stood there with a collective WTF look on our faces.
Hey, those guards wanted a pop. You guys probably would have been waved through too if you had some Krispy Kremes with you.
There’s a lot of truth to that. Seen the pizza guy get the royal treatment too.
Wonder if he’d enjoy his time off with a broken foot.
The navy’s a big organization and it’s got all kinds, some smart and some not. The vast majority though are pretty good people.
