Israel, whose foreign currency reserves have traditionally been made up of Dollars, Euros and British Pounds, will add four new currencies – including the Chinese Yuan (RMB).
Israel has added four new currencies – including the Chinese Yuan (RMB) – to its central bank holdings for the first time in the country’s history, Bloomberg reports. Israel’s Central Bank will also trim US Dollar (USD) and Euro holdings in a bid to diversify their foreign reserves.
Israel’s foreign currency reserves, which last year exceeded $200 billion for the first time, have traditionally been made up of USD, Euro and British Pound (GBP) holdings. Israel will now include Canadian dollars and Australian dollars in their foreign currency reserves, as well as the Japanese Yen and the Chinese Renminbi.
Deputy Governor Andrew Abir called the reshuffle a change in Israel’s “whole investment guidelines and philosophy,” adding that the rise in Israel’s foreign exchange reserves forced the Central Bank to consider "the need to earn a return on the reserves that will cover the costs of liability...”

According to the book Spymasters of Israel, the Israelis had identified the USS Liberty as a spy ship which was leaking vital intel coms to Russia because it was compromised. They asked the US DoD to remove it, the US refused. They did what they had to do during wartime to remove the threat.

The US got some support from the Arab nations when it went after Iraq.
Israel was asked to let the US handle things, so as not to rock the boat.
Now folks bring up that Israel didn’t help.
In over 27,000 days, Israel went after one of our ships on one.
I don’t like that it did. I don’t like the loss of our men at all.
I still don’t see Israel as it our enemy, and I don’t think God has changed His mind.
If I remember correctly, we asked them not to in order to avoid a larger war on the Arabian peninsula.
........well Milagros, I have no idea why you would defend a foreign nation killing 34 of our sailors and wounding 172 while we were providing them the very equipment, weapons and money to save themselves in that war and several others and have ever since. You may find it interesting that nobody else seems to agree with you.

It was no accidental IDF attack on the USS Liberty. Israel knew the ship’s identity, its US flag clearly visible. Good weather conditions made it easy to spot.
Israeli warplanes circled overhead before attacking, at times low enough for US sailors to wave to its pilots.
They waved back before opening fire with rockets, machine guns, and napalm terror-bombs against the lightly armed vessel.
Parts of the deck were set ablaze. Torpedoes launched from IDF boats caused a 40-foot-wide hole in its hull, flooding lower compartments, causing the ship to list 10 degrees, a defenseless smoking hulk, lucky to avoid sinking.
The ship’s radio frequencies were jammed to prevent a distress call for help. When finally able to communicate, it was too late. The damage was done, the human toll testimony to Israeli viciousness.liberty-attack/
Both of our accounts are straightforward and mostly true. The Israelis knew what they were doing. The US DoD didn’t take it seriously that their ship was jeopardizing the entire war effort.
It was no accidental IDF attack on the USS Liberty.
