Not in agreement. Vlad has already won. Eastern and Southern Ukraine is in rubble, it will take years to rebuild cities, infrastructure, airports, bases, depots.….which means time and money ( from US taxpayers no doubt) not spent for the Ukies rearming. Vlad has , per his speech, mostly denatzified Ukraine, and close to demilitarizing Ukraine.
Sovereign Russia is untouched, they have need of nothing, food, gas, oil, NG, metals, commodities, etc.
If you refer to casualties, you don’t know the Russians, they bury their dead then move on. The Ukies will bury their dead, then have to take a decade to rebuild ( ten percent to Joe).

Demilitarizing? I do not see it. If the foreseen encirclement and destruction of the Ukrainian forces is successful, then, maybe.
The problem is Russia is losing military material about as fast as the Ukrainians, which makes it a pyrrhic victory.
When he destroys Ukrainian capacity to make weapons, he is destroying capacity which was used to arm Russia.
Maybe he is after natural resources. There might be a win there, but it is too early to tell.

Political value. When I worked in Moscow the WW2 victory celebrations were and still are legendary events. Denazify has little meaning to modern day west, but has huge importance to the Russian people.

I thought so too. I don’t believe Putin intends to take anything west of the river, but his move toward Kiev made Ukraine defend it with troops and weapons while Russian troops solidified their objectives.
I may be wrong, but that’s how I see it.

This is absolutely about natural resources. This is textbook Russian banditry as practiced for hundreds of years. Russification is already happening. Stalinist goon squads deployed, Ukrainians deported to the gulag, etc. We’ve seen this movie before from Russia.
Ritter should be the go-to guy for anyone interested in an honest, expert analysis of this war.
When the war started, I thought an agreement would probably be reached by the end of April with Russia getting most of what it really wanted—the Donbas and a non-NATO Ukraine. It’s taking a little longer than I expected. I still think they’ll get the territorial gains, but I think Ukraine will join NATO. Finland and Sweden are probably going to end up in NATO which Russia would prefer not to happen, but since I don’t believe Russia has ambitions of invading there, I doubt Russia is very concerned about them joining NATO.
If that is the case, we can post nothing from Biden admin.

Absurd. Russias land mass is 11 time zones, from the Baltics to Alaska. Chocked full of natural resources. Russia is self sufficient, it has everything the west needs, food, grains, wheat, gas, diesel, oil, NG, water, metals, commodities. They are in need of nothing.
