There are certain people who, for an unknown reason, have a severe reaction to COVID. The rest of us? It’s just a cold. And the people who get the severe reaction usually get it after being told to go home and rest and call back if it becomes life-threatening....
Plenty of studies were done on mask effectiveness before COVID started. Unless you are in a biohazard suit...they don’t do squat against a virus. Then a virus hit while Trump was President, and suddenly masks became effective. Shazaam!
A facemask is mandatory for me when doing dusty work around the house...yard work, sanding sheetrock, grinding brick/rock, sawing MDF trim.
NOT wearing a mask when I was younger/stupider led to noticeable lung issues. Even with a mask now...I hack up stuff the next day.

First off, while the virus is small, much of it (50%) is attached to larger particles of moisture (water vapor from breathe, dust, etc.)
I stopped the video when the bearded guy was about to put on his N95 mask. I’m guessing he didn’t shave before he put it on. An N95 mask or the half-face respirator on the table won’t do any good while sporting a beard.
I have no qualms of people wanting to wear a mask or not wear a mask. Same goes for the vaccines. But the government should not be forcing us to do either.

Hell no! Masking yourself doesn’t help and can be a detriment especially for children. We have to get some sanity back although I’m not sure that’s even possible anymore.

A really bad idea. Which of course is why the tyranny-minded authorities might favor it. The more useless and inconvenient, the better the idea.
N95 masks are expensive, must be form-fitted to be effective, must be donned correctly, and are effectively single-use under circumstances of exposure to a truly critical biohazard.
They don't work at all for people who have beards.
But the ineffective nature of masking for an untrained and undisciplined population is hardly important.
Masks are a visible symbol of submission to the arbitrary orders from authorities. That is their entire purpose.

Not only would such a mask mandate cause far more harm than good it would usher in a dysfunctional society such as has been pictured in science fiction, where no freedom exists and subsistence living is the only alternative. This whole tempest is an exercise in wielding political power not in protecting Americans. Viruses are not IRRADICABLE and chasing that scenario is brainless.

Do these people not get that masks are worn by a health care professional for a variety of bacteria primarily that are in the mouth? If properly used, that mask is replaced several times in the day as it becomes damp from breathing. Touching the mask and then other people or things is a big no-no as this material on the mask is contaminated. The mask needs to be worn properly (fit right). And yes, all things considered it can help in preventing the spread of germs (generic).
However!!!! Covid is a virus and very small. It pretty much goes through the mask, even an N95. Most people do not exchange the mask constantly during the day, in which case it’s not going to do much for you, and few wear them right. Most people touch their face 23 times per hour (you don’t even realize you’re doing it) and of that 44% was in contact with mucus membranes. This specific virus is also transmissable by touch and can live on some surfaces for ***DAYS.*** Touching the damp mask, scratching your eyes, putting ones finger in the mouth or getting that itch under the nose, amounts to no less than spreading that virus to everything you touch on that airplane after that point: tray, chair recline knob, belt buckle, display, light or vent above... And it can last for days!
Making everyone wear a mask in a gesture of solidarity, to show action in crisis, to let people feel empowered and like they have control over this may serve various psychological aspects of how humans react to such threats, but it is NOT a scientific, empirically based, factual, actual, functional (whatever word you want to use) way to stop the spread. The mask is great, it serves a purpose in the right place and time. But it will not change ANYTHING in regards to the spread of Covid.
Not only that, but to even approach that level of performance, they must be properly fitted (no, one size does not fit all), they are good only for a limited time and must be changed in clean-room type environments with proper procedures, and should be treated as hazardous waste when discarded (ever seen even one collection box for used masks?)
