I guess that explains why he felt it okay to give your comic books away ;-)

My folks gave warning, on most things they were about to give away (dolls, albums, etc.), so....luckily, and, fairly early on, my sis and I gathered up what held special value.

Hubby’s mom was a collector, in her own right, so she saved EVERYTHING, of his/his siblings (GI Joe’s, Texaco fireman hats, etc). Our grands are enjoying playing with some of the toys/books, that were ours.

Hope you can get your card collection.

They say Alfred Nobel created the peace prize thing because he was horrified that his miracle of tech, dynamite, had not rendered warfare impossible.

Musk is betting everybody yearns for a slave without the messy human slavery moral issue thing. If he’s right, it’s not a huge leap to guess that the demand will lead to increasingly lifelike robots that will be considered by some to be “better” than our flesh and blood bodies.

Maybe that’s where the transhumanism starts.

Hope Elon is better than Alfred was when it comes to estimating the impact of efforts for the betterment of humanity.

If not, he can afford to fund a nice prize, too.

The big money in robotics in the future will be in “domestics” - i.e. robots that help us do menial tasks and chores at home like mowing the yard, mopping or vacuuming, dishes, and other stuff.

Eventually we will have domestics that cook dinner to order.

This is where the big money will be in the market - potentially a larger play than Apple but one that will likely feature more players. Americans love leisure and it will be easier than ever with a smart home and AI domestics.

It’s not a big deal. Seeing the direction baseball has taken in the last few years, I’m not a big fan anymore. Mind you, Nolan Ryan was from a different generation of baseball players, and I’m sure he isn’t woke. But my favorite baseball player now, is Rick Monday.

That’s him. On my shelf beside the monitor with his arm holding the drink extended along with what I think is the droid scanner. :)

Wish I still had my old all-steel Tonka trucks, and my dozens of Matchbox vehicles. You just don’t think of that stuff when you’re young and going out into the world, or at least I didn’t.

While this is my personal opinion and not investment advice I agree with Elon Musk. If his robot becomes capable of household tasks, in an aging population, he will probably sell 150,000,000 million of these things in the next 10 years. If they sell for 20k each that's 3 trillion in sales over 10 years. At a 5x multiple price to sales ratio and backend loading of the sales to the last few years of the 10 year period Tesla will 5X in 10 years on Robots alone. That works out to a 17% compounded return at the end of 10 years.

I believe that 150Mil is just US sales. World-wide sales would be much higher. This doesn't even include the fact that Tesla is probably one of the top AI companies in the world. It also doesn't include that there are still car sales to include. It also doesn't include industrial and agricultural use of the robots I am just considering individual household use.

For those who are stuck in mutual funds in their retirement account due to the type of plan you have you can get some Tesla exposure through Baron Partners Fund Retail Shares (BPTRX). They have 41% of their holdings in Tesla stock. They also have 4% in SpaceEx so you get a two-fer on Elon Musk.

I'm a big fan of what Mr. Musk is accomplishing. Again not investment advice just throwing my own back of the envelopment analysis for your enjoyment.

Same. Must of had near 60 Matchbox cars.
As a little kid I had a 1978 Trans Am with the bird on the hood.
At 21, I got the car for real.👍

If it makes half the impact that Segway did then it will forever change ... mall security?

Best policy when someone claims a secretive project will change everything: wait and see.

Very cool.....

From his Wiki...

“Rick Monday... You Made A Great Play...” He later said, “If you’re going to burn the flag, don’t do it around me. I’ve been to too many veterans’ hospitals and seen too many broken bodies of guys who tried to protect it.”

👏🏻👏🏻 👏🏻 🇺🇸

I think I miss the books most of all. No way could I have kept them and moved them around over the years, though.

For an EvilCapitalist, someone GIVING AWAY his property must have been a cruel blow. He should have squeezed that nephew for every dime!
