Alaska voters say it’s time for a change in the Senate

As the Alaska Republican Party holds its state convention this month, attention will naturally focus on the 2022 elections, most notably the selection of our next U.S. Senator. I’ve been running against incumbent Sen. Lisa Murkowski for over a year, and it’s clear that voters agree that it’s time for a change.

Because of a new election law, approved narrowly through a referendum crafted and promoted by Murkowski’s political allies, we no longer hold party primaries in Alaska. All candidates from all parties will run in a “jungle” primary on August 16 with the top four advancing to the general election, where voters have the option to rank their choices.

The reason for the change is obvious. There was no chance that Murkowski would win a Republican primary, so it was eliminated. And there’s good reason for Murkowski’s friends to think that way.

Because of a lengthy list of votes betraying Alaskan values, the Alaska Republican Party censured Murkowski and told her not to call herself a Republican anymore. I was honored to receive the endorsement of the party, and in the absence of an actual primary, I am proud to be carrying the conservative mantle as the true Republican candidate in this race.

All this is because Murkowski is a senator, owned by special interests, who casts votes simply to retain her popularity among the D.C. political elites.

In fact, this is what inspired me to run against Murkowski. She cast the tie-breaking vote to advance the nomination of the radical environmentalist Deb Haaland for Interior Secretary. At the time, Murkowski even admitted Haaland would be harmful to our interests, yet she voted to confirm her anyway.

I certainly hope so... though Alaska certainly has done everything they can to try to keep her around even changing their entire election system to aid her..

Hopefully, finally, this leftist pretending she’s not, will be gone

I believe party primaries should only allow those registered in that party to vote.

I wish Sarah would run for that senate slot.

Alaska voters are like Mormon voters. Flakey.

I think it was her primary against Sullivan a few years ago. She won with write-in ballots with no discernible name or signature and the corrupt POSs counted them anyway.

One can only imagine how great this country could be if we had honest politicians and real elections.

Then again, we have only ourselves to blame when folks like Graham, Thune, Cornyn, McCarthy and all the rest keep getting sent back.

I have been considering that quite a bit lately. We have considerable upside to move into.

I heard an interview with Kelly months ago (think it was on War Room) and she is VERY aware of the shenanigans that allegedly occurred with write-in ballots last time.

I think some of their legislators were also talking about it.

While it does not guarantee anything I believe it is fair to say that it will be much harder for them to play the same game this time.

I think Murkowski is done, but we will see.....

I certainly hope so, and it does LOOK like, Alaskan’s have finally had enough, but its such a weird state politically, I am not going to count on anything until it’s all said and done.

PR and I met Kelly last year when she came to visit the little island fishing town where we live. She had a round table meeting at the local coffee shop with about a dozen curious commercial fishermen, deck hands, loggers and local businessmen.

I can safely say that all of us were impressed. Time to send some $upport her way.

If we had honest people and real money,
we wouldn’t need politicians and elections.

I wish Sarah would run for that senate slot.

She will have more freedom and be more effective in the House.

Besides, IMO, it will be easier for her to get elected to Don Young's seat as our single, statewide Representative.

Yes, as I called it the other day, the introduction of RCV was the Murkowski Protection Act.

“I wish Sarah would run for that senate slot.”

Maybe next time (IF Murkowski wins)

Sarah could have 6 years in the House by then. (IF Sarah wins)
