Trump walks out of explosive Piers Morgan interview after being pressed on 2020 election

Former President Donald Trump blasted Piers Morgan as “very dishonest” while walking out of an interview with the TV presenter and Post columnist after being pressed on his claims that he lost the 2020 presidential election due to voter fraud.

The 45th president became increasingly frustrated with Morgan’s questions, at one point calling him a “fool,” according to clips of the sit down.

“I think I’m a very honest man … much more honest than you, actually,” Trump said at one point.

“Really?” Morgan asked.

“Yeah,” Trump responded.

Elsewhere, Morgan told Trump the 2020 vote “was a free and fair election. You lost.”

“Only a fool would think that,” Trump shot back.

“You think I’m a fool?” Morgan retorted.

“I do now, yeah,” Trump responded.

Trump has alleged almost since Election Night of 2020 that moves to expand mail-in voting due to the COVID-19 pandemic concealed election fraud by Democrats and their surrogates in key swing states like Arizona, Georgia and Pennsylvania.

“With respect, you haven’t produced the hard evidence,” Morgan said of Trump’s claims as the former president attempted to interject.

“I don’t think you’re real,” the former president said to Morgan, later turning to the production crew and calling his interviewer “very dishonest.”

The preview clip ended with Trump getting out of his seat and ordering production to “turn the camera off.”

“Very dishonest,” he added while walking away.

Describing the experience in a Thursday column for The Post, Morgan revealed he also told the former president that he blamed Trump’s refusal to admit defeat for the deadly Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot.

“Then you’re a fool! And you haven’t studied,” Trump responded, according to Morgan.

Morgan recounted that Trump called him a fool six more times in the interview, described Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.)

I've just asked for somebody to link me to even one interview or speech where he's laid that all out cogently and effectively. That isn't really asking a lot, is it?

Truth is, that's the only way he should ever talk about it. To the point where people are sick of hearing all the details and common-sense election reforms necessary. Instead, we basically get a million generalist variations on "I was robbed." That's enough for those who are truly committed to him, but it isn't enough for everyone else, and it certainly isn't enough to shift the narrative.

Why didn’t Trump just educate him on the evidence?

Trump is right. It is clear that the election was rigged against him. Any fool can see that. To believe otherwise is foolish.

Actually as far as the two senators from Georgia are concerned you can thank Mitch McConnell for that who wouldn’t give a $2000 stimulus that Trump wanted but as soon as Biden got in the office gave him the stimulus.

I heard Trump provided Piers a LONG list of quotes from Piers that were very anti-Trump form years back proving Piers bias, I wonder if any of that was mentioned in the interview.

Yep. And voters discouraged by what happened on Nov. 3 didn’t vote in January 2021. Yrump had nothing to do with the outcome.

ahhh.... so paying people off is what gets votes. I’m sorry, I didn’t realize Democrats frequented this site. Why stop at $2000? Why not $5000?

Indeed. But instead, sick of hearing “I was robbed”.

People used to complain here about Uhbama seeming to always be about himself, including speech. No such complaints about Trump; just defense.

For Trump it’s really all about him. He’s very self-centered and egotistic. He happens to be correct much of the time, and does many great things, but goes on and on just whining about something that’s basically a dead issue, and other times told us how he’s the greatest ever, the economy is the greatest ever, etc. Speaks in hyperbole all the time, perhaps, but it’s not really true and it’s all preening.

Never mind that Trump will be too old (just like Biden - again hypocrisy) for the next round.

You and the other guy should get together with Red headed Shannon and a couple of the other anti Trump posters if they are not bots for companionship if nothing more.

I think Trump did a unbelievably good job at shifting the Overton window on a ton of issues. We are having discussions now on this country that were long overdue, and that never would have happened if not for Donald Trump.

But at some time after you've broken down the door, you have to know what to do once you go through it. Trump showed himself to be a terrible judge of the people to put around to implement his agenda. Presumably, he believed himself to be picking the cream of the crop the first time around, and I can't fathom an argument of why we should believe that he do a better job if he was elected 2024.

I obviously will vote for him if he is the nominee again at 2024, but I'm really hoping for someone else at this point. We have a historic opportunity to realign the American electorate, and to change the direction of this country. But to do that, we need somebody who is as good at the details as the thick picture, and who won't needlessly alienate potential supporters by shooting at the hip without first ensuring that he's aiming at the right target.

As stated elsewhere, too many just can’t take any criticism. Trump is perfect and God (is that Trump?) forbid we detract even a bit - that is “anti-Trump”. Cultism at its highest.

But thanks for the suggestion.

You got it.

I’ll vote Trump if that’s what we get. Despite what the EverTrumpers think of me.

I don’t live in Georgia sorry I was just saying why that was a big deal during that election that people felt that because the government was locking everybody up and causing them their jobs that they should pay them some money and McConnell refused

I’ve never compared Donald Trump with God - would never blasphme like that. and if you have read anything I’ve ever posted,I’ve never alluded to him being anything other than human. But what I do take issue with is attacks on someone who is the very best president of my lifetime and has been maligned enough both by never trumpers like yourself along with the Rinos of your party. He is an easy man to defend. So think what you will but there are far far more of us here on Free Republic than you realize. The Lincoln Project might be more to your taste.

You are ASSuming that I or others are “NeverTrumpers”, and that ipso facto, we are “RINOs”.

I assure you, I most decidedly am NOT a RINO.

We’ve already stated we’ll vote for Trump. What else do we have to do? Not criticize him, apparently. I’m aware all too well how many EverTrumpers are on FR. They blast anyone who doesn’t toe the line.

Reagan is the best president in my lifetime. Still hasn’t been superceded.

To: the OlLine Rebel

Again, you obviously didn’t read what I posted. Oh well, I tried.............

Let’s try this. There are RINOS and NEVER TRUMPERS in your party. (I’m not a Republican). You by your posts against Trump are not just sounding an opinion, you are reinforcing at the very least the Never Trump mind set. Does that make you a RINO or Never Trumper? Don’t know. Don’t know you. Could be true, could be hogwash. I do believe there are bots and Never Trumpers posting here at FR pretending to be super patriots. That’s simply common sense from the other side.

Incidentally, I’ve already stated emphatically that I’m what you are calling an EVER TRUMPER and why not, proud to claim the title! He was the best President in my lifetime, better than Reagan—never thought I’d say that either.

My biggest issue with the Internet and FR lately has been the mass surge of the Trump is too Old, Trump is this, Trump is that, I don’t want him but will vote for Trump is he is the candidate, posts and articles flooding FR. It’s almost as if its a coordinated effort to land a beach front. Won’t work. The man is loved too deeply, not for who or what he is but for the fact of what he’s done: a strong border wall being built, energy independence, strong economics in housing, food, job growth, getting our neighbors to pay their fair share of what is owed, North Korea, no more wars, killing terrorists in Iran and the list goes on... And he did this while enduring hatred from the Never Trumpers, RINOS in his own party along with their buddies in the Democrat party, suffering being spied upon and impeached, not once but twice, oh and having his youngest son viciously attacked by some hack under oath. And yet here we are........ Well, I’m proud to stand up for this man. I consider it an honor.

As good as Reagan was, he couldn’t touch the things that Trump accomplished that was good for America.

In retrospect, people will realize that President Trump was an ANOMOLY, a politician who ACCOMPLISHED THINGS, not just talked about them.

Take it from me...President Trump has a better performance record.

You can think what you wish about me, and others.

The fact is EverTrumpers are massively on FR, constantly starting threads and eviscerating anyone (including to do with the posted article) that says anything “negative” about Trump. I’m used to that here so I see it as the knee-jerk reaction, not nearly “NeverTrump” tendencies. That observation is why I came up with the EverTrump term, as long, the term “NeverTrump” has been used as mockery and glib dismissal for anyone who expresses doubt. ET is a REACTION to NT, not the norm at all.

Anyway the bottom line is I am not going to ever turn tail on anyone who is the Republican candidate (assuming no one comes up with a viable new party; I won’t do that again). I agree with Trump on almost everything, but I’ve also seen his past and just on politics alone, I have to wonder about his friends and his past affiliations (flip-flop).

Trump is not as popular as ET want to believe. The rallies could be all the ET in that state….IOW, it’s not nearly the whole electorate or the “conservative” side there.

As far as accomplishments, yes, Trump did some great things, but also dropped the ball esp. with COVID hysteria and the riots. Bear in mind Trump had the Congress at first…then lost the Reps. Vs. Reagan who had only the Senate on his side for about 6 years. Trump basically had friends 3/4 the time, Reagan only 3/8.

Anyway I’m done. This should be a thread of its own, not hijacking another.

Again, I’ll always support whomever the system coughs up (unfortunately we’re only really given one choice in the end). But it doesn’t mean I don’t have concerns.
