Disney’s Florida property is miles outside the Orlando City limits and was even farther away in 1967

And, to tens of millions of folks, the so called “baggage” Trump is carrying is LIBERAL BAGGAGE and thus seen as a badge of honor and credulity unlike the girly men republicans in the senate daily espousing “across the isle” politics.......

Certainly, in my view, politically activist woke companies deserve push-back, but we don’t like it when Conservative big business (are there any left?) suffer similar at the hands of awful leftist governors.

If I understand the situation, Disney’s property now will be taxed by Orange County, Florida. Assuming the bill gets passed the House and is signed.

If that happens, I am waiting to see the Orlando Leftists demanding that Disney’s property be taxed at the highest rate so they can spend more tax dollars on themselves.

But, institutions which are not Conservative by designation trend to shift leftwards as they age. (Some kind of law by somebody I do not remember.)

Quote: “ The State of FL punishing Disney for exercising its First Amendment rights.”

I LOVE (and by loved, I mean hate) how powerful companies like Disney take steps to punish those who they disagree with. They ban them from their media services or spend millions to lobby against them.

But the second you fight back? Why, you are restricting their rights.

And what are those rights?

To do, say, support and punish those that that disagree with them with IMPUNITY!!

In other words, the left is what is and if you aren’t, you are illegal. It’s their right to be in charge. It’s “their democracy.”

On Wednesday, Disney declined to comment on the bill

Sounds like they may have learned a lesson, though late.

Keep your yap shut about things that are not your concern,
and that the vast majority of Americans think you are
wrong about.

“Disney will be just fine”.

***********************************************************

Well, maybe, maybe not, here’s a SHORT list of prominent multi billion dollar companies who thought they could defy the laws of business:

Refco; 33 billion, 2005

American Savings and Loan, 33.8 billion; September 1988

Texaco, 34.9; Dec; 87

Pacific Gas & Electric, 36.1; June 2001

Thornburg Mortgage, 36.5; January 2009

Chrysler; 39.3 billion; January; 2009

MF Global; 41 billion; August 2011

Conseco Inc.; 61.3 billion; December 2002

Enron Corp; 65.5 billion; December 2001

CTI Group; 71.0 billion; January 2009

General Motors Corp; 82.3 billion; June 1, 2009

Pacific Electric & Gas; 2nd time; (date, amount unavailable

Worldcom; 103.9; 103.9; July 2002

Washington Mutual; 327.9 billion; September, 2008

Lehman Bros; 691.1; September 2008

Disney’s total value based on their own statements is 91 billion dollars.

If Disney doesn’t do a hard right and get back to Walt’s vision of what he wants children to be exposed to then they will be on this list sooner than later because we ain’t seen nothing yet.

DeSantis is my beloved governor.

But do tell of “the baggage of old Trump.”

Of what baggage do you speak?

I’d bet $1 he’ll stay in FL; he has more work to do there, before entering the WH race.

"No reason for a private corporation to have permanent no-fly TFR airspaces over them."
Back in the 1970s, I used to fly over Disney World at 2-4,000' weekends visiting my wife-to-be at the University in Gainesville and back from Miami where I was doing a postdoc. Some times I'd do a 360 for a better look. I don't think it was controlled space then. It's the closest I've ever been to it.

Thank you for refreshing my memory!

No problem. I learned of that John O'Sullivan quote back in the early 1990s, and I thought it so significant that I made up my mind to remember it.

Good thing Disney’s America never happened at Haymarket, VA. The data centers will do more for the economy and contribute more overall than Disney ever will.
