Watch — Ron DeSantis: Florida Lawmakers will Consider Terminating Special Districts, Including Disney’s Special Tax and Governing Jurisdiction

Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) announced on Tuesday that the state legislature will consider a proposal to eliminate Disney’s special tax and governing jurisdiction in DeSantis’s fight against the megacorporation’s woke politics.

“I am announcing today that we are expanding the call of what they are going to be considering this week, and so yes, they will be considering … termination of all special districts that were enacted in Florida prior to 1968, and that includes the Reedy Creek Improvement District,” DeSantis declared.

The Reedy Creek Improvement District is Disney’s special governing and special taxing district for the Walt Disney World Resort. The Florida legislature authorized this in 1967 to boost economic development and tourism within the district’s boundaries. This includes 25,000 acres.

Eliminating this special district would serve as a significant economic blow to the Disney corporation.

Investigate them while you’re at it.
Maybe some arrest are in order?

Right. Private organizations shouldn't have any free speech rights.

They have drawn attention to themselves - why do they get such a huge tax-break, when others do not? especially since the purpose of the tax-break was fulfilled 50 years ago.

Yeah, but didn’t NTC Orlando only open in ‘67? I went to Great Lakes in Aug ‘67 and found out there was the one in Orlando after I got to chicongo. Of course years later after living in the area for 24 years, Orlando might have been a worse choice with the heat and all. LOL!

No political dynasties.

He’s dating Kimberly Guilfoyle. He has terrible personnel decisions as well.

“DeSantis doesn’t screw around.”

Yup. I think he’s running for higher office based on the speed of his actions. Even when his wife was sick, he still went on his business..

If this happens, prices will go up. I wonder if most will now be priced out of the parks ?

"They won’t let that happen again as they did with Trump."

Huh? You must have been watching different MSM than me. They attacked Trump the moment he came down the escalator.

Hear hear! I’d still VERY much like Trump serving as Speaker of the House when DeSantis is sworn in . . . just for a single 2-year term. It would take so much attention off of DeSantis to get things accomplished, AND it would allow Trump to adopt his inner Pelosi and run roughshod over democrats as she set the template.

They have drawn attention to themselves - why do they get such a huge tax-break, when others do not?

Many, many, many companies of every size get special tax treatments. Try to find one in the energy sector that doesn't, for instance.

The Constitution doesn't become null and void when you get a tax break.

Besides, if this was about taxes it would have come up long before they voiced a political view.

No one can argue that this isn't the state punishing them for political speech - it obviously is. The question is does anyone here have a problem with that?

Like a good boss, he released “...will consider” at the same time state senator Randy Fine submitted the bill to the special session. It’s as beautiful as politics gets (for our side, for a change.)

What? You're not voting for Trump?

I'm shocked.

Trump has too much baggage that the MSM will hit on 24/7
Yea, that's never happened to Trump before < /sarcasm >.

NY gave our upstate chip fab BILLIONS in tax relief. AND it all arbitrary, this is the gray area pols love to operate in as they can really help their "friendlies". Kinda like Hochul giving a billionaire Bills owner close to a billion for a new stadium.

The first State of the Union behind Biden, next to HeelsUp would be MustWatchTV! An eye-rolling, head-shaking, and yawning Trump would conclude with a shredded Biden speech being set aflame in a burn barrel. I’m laughing now imagining this golden scene!
