LVIV, Ukraine (AP) – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russian troops in southern Ukraine have been carrying out torture and kidnappings, and he called on the world Sunday to respond.“Torture chambers are built there,” Zelensky said in an evening address to the nation. “They abduct representatives of local governments and anyone deemed visible to local communities.”
Zelensky said humanitarian aid has been stolen, creating famine.
In occupied parts of the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions, he said, the Russians are creating separatist states and introducing Russia’s currency, the ruble....

Hmmm, this is the same Zelensky who made all the opposition political parties illegal (about a month ago), has arrested several of his generals, accusing them of treason (I guess they had different ideas about the conduct of his war), and just last week arrested and imprisoned the leader of the main, formerly legitimate opposition political party and showed a video of him in prison (just as a warning to other citizens), right?
This whole thing is crazy and everyone involved in it is crazy. The US has no business getting involved in this.
The Ukrainian parliament has 8 parties. One of these was made illegal. The Russian puppet one. It didn’t have any support anyway anymore. It was a party supported by those who believed Russian lies in 2019, but there are very few such naive people left by now.

The party of Medeved may have been pro-Russian in the sense that it wanted a negotiated settlement that would take into account the demands of both sides, but this was an overt political position and not a stealth attack on Ukraine. There was no reason to make it illegal and arrest the leader. It would be like Biden declaring the GOP illegal and arresting Trump for overtly opposing the Dems.
Come to think of it, that’s exactly what Biden would like to do.
And Zelensky actually made something like six “opposition” political parties illegal and silenced them about a month ago. Ukraine has a parliamentary system, which is why it had a lot of parties. I assume this means that their elected representatives were removed from the Ukrainian parliament (which is unicameral) and that Zelensky now has no opposition.
I was surprised this got so little comment at the time.
That’s what I have been saying since day one.
Both sides are trash, and it’s not our business.
European countries can get involved if they want.

They made one parliamentary party illegal for being traitors. It held 7.5% of the seats.
The rest of the parties made illegal were tiny ones not even passing the election threshold. Stupid commie parties like “Soviet Union is the Best!”
The voters of this “Opposition Platform — For Life” party (7.5%) weren’t likely traitors. They were just stupid and have now realized they made a mistake.
The party machine itself was traitors though.

It’s been the KGB’s (and its predecessors) Modus Operandi for over 100 years. Also done in Cuba, Nicaragua, Iraq, East Germany, Iran, North Korea, Romania, etc. -basically anywhere KGB provided its ‘management services’. You’d think people would know this by now.
Go take a peek into the memory hole that hides everything negative about Biden’s protege.
I don’t know why we are not only ready and willing, but even want to go to war to protect him. Why so much opposition to a negotiated settlement? What is Biden’s real agenda with this, or is it simply that he stumbled into this by accident with some loose, dementia-caused statements and now won’t walk it back because somehow the Dems feel a war would be useful?
They’re sure spending enough of our money on it, but heck, what’s another billion or two among friends? Just print more.
I’m sorry, it may not concern you, but I literally wake up at night wondering what’s going to be left standing a year from now if our politicians blunder us into WWIII and millions of deaths. Probably the only country left standing will be China, and the new world order will be Chinese.
And of course the politicians aren’t worried, because they will survive just fine. They always do.
They shoot prisoners in the legs? Or castrate them?

I also heard they shoot POWs in the knees and leave them to die.
