[Sea state looks quite calm in that photo.
Daylight means that it was at least several hours after the 1 AM missile strikes.]
[Looks like it split apart because of rust. What a dump. The Russian navy is trash.]
I don’t know if the photo s accurate.
I remember the Moskva as bristling with antennae and radomes, which I don’t see in the photo. Maybe they were blown off? I thought the ship was listing badly to the Port, or inverted before daylight.
It was damaged before, right? What did it look like after taking damage in their war against Georgia?
Now it's gone...
All old Soviet designs had this flaw. When they built the Kirov they started making their ships better with under armor VLS systems where everyone is going now.
Since the war in Georgia, the Moskva spent about three years in dock getting repairs and upgrades.
There are a lot of pictures from recent months, that show it looking in good shape, with all kinds of antennae and radomes (that I don’t see in the purported picture.
I am not sure if that is the same ship in the picture, but a lot of that stuff might have been blown off in big blast.
Once again, the vaunted Russian Military is a lie. Were it not for the fact that they have nukes (and we'd have to seriously question the condition they're in now) they'd be nothing more than any other third-rate military around the world.
I'd put them right up there with the also vaunted Iraqi Republican Guard we heard so much about as being a well armed & well trained foe right before Desert Storm I in 1991 and we kicked their ass all the way back to Baghdad.
Clearly the Russian military isn't squat without the threat of nukes.
This rusty scow was one of the prides of the Russian Navy? ROFL!
I'm not advocating for war and I don't want our men & women put in harms way, I really don't, and if Russia keeps pushing this crap and think for a second they have a chance against our military, they're seriously delusional. They'd best be careful what they ask for.
Massive explosion before sinking? Wouldn’t most crew be taken off a disabled and being towed ship?
Are there any photos of what it looked like during/after that earlier time? Any of the photos from that war before it was repaired?
Just wondered if the photo you were examining was an older photo from that version’s damage or of the more recent Moskva’s damage.
No worries either way, now. “She’s dead, Jim.”

Oh I see - I missed your earlier point.
This photo might be from an earlier conflict.
I think that is a very good possibility. The reports that I had been seeing earlier made it seem like the ship was listing badly to Port, or even inverted, long before daylight, from the recent strike.
Sorry, but I don’t have earlier photos to compare.
Smoke is not billowing from the superstructure: It’s billowing from the stacks, indicating a massive fire below decks.
Not exactly what I’d expect from a missile impact, across the board.
Who’s your fav CNN anchor?
The Neptune missles would hit the center structure and CIC bridge area. She carries 16 large cursie missiles launched from tubes with 8 on each side. The ship is listing to port and 4 of the missiles tubes on the port side have been blown away. Likely one or as many as four of those large warheads exploded. There is video showing the large explosion on the port side. This was no fire that caused those missiles to detonate. There was a fire clrealy that swept through the ship after being hit.
It looks kinda like a tank that’s been hit with a round, those big fires that burn things out might only last 10-20 seconds, but absolutely wreck the structure.
The missiles hit near the funnels which ae just abaft the Vulcan Anti-Ship missile tubes. I would not get all that excited over a nearly 50 year old obsolete surface combatant getting sunk like this. I know this all too well and am not surprised. This could just as easily happen to American or NATO ships should they get involved.
No no, of couse. The flagship of their navy isn’t a big loss.. LOL, didn’t you also yack about insider Trump-wins info?
