That is what I was thinking. This is Russia’s premier warship. Looks like an old shrimp trawler

No that was not the flagship of the Navy but the fleet flagship for the Black Sea operation. There is a big difference JO.

That’s not rust. That’s stealthy rust-colored state of the art Russian naval camo.

So they use the rust colored deck paint to camouflage the ship because it was always in dry dock?

It looks kinda like a tank that’s been hit with a round, those big fires that burn things out might only last 10-20 seconds, but absolutely wreck the structure.

From the photos, the ship never made it to general quarters as the doors and hatches appear not to have been shut. That would have spread the fire inside the can.

The missiles hit near the funnels which ae just abaft the Vulcan Anti-Ship missile tubes. I would not get all that excited over a nearly 50 year old obsolete surface combatant getting sunk like this. I know this all too well and am not surprised. This could just as easily happen to American or NATO ships should they get involved.

If appears to have gone down in shallow enough water for the Ruskies to try to refloat her eventually when the war is over. That would probably be a waste of money, but might be done to save face and award a fat contract in the process. The neighborhood bully got a bloody nose, but is still at it.

I think it’s a lost cause. It was near the end of it’s service life anyway. If they raise it they will scrap it.

I wouldn’t know a CNN anchor if it was tossed from a window and landed on my head...
