A Senate Democrat said that the U.S. needs to discuss sending American troops to Ukraine — arguing that Vladimir Putin “will only stop when we stop him.”
Appearing on Face the Nation Sunday, Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE) was confronted by CBS’s Margaret Brennan about comments he made earlier in the week in which he argued the U.S. needs to figure out when it would be willing to send armed forces to Ukraine.
“We are in a very dangerous moment where it is important that on a bipartisan and measured way we in Congress and the administration come to a common position about when we are willing to go the next step and to send not just arms but troops to the aid in defense of Ukraine,” Coons said. “If the answer is never then we are inviting another level of escalation in brutality by Putin.”
Brennan asked Coons, “Are you arguing that President Biden was wrong when he said he would not send troops to Ukraine? Are you asking him to set a red line?”
The senator praised Biden’s “steady and constructive leadership,” but called for the U.S. to stand “more forcefully” behind Ukraine.

I also learned the hard way, the majority Republican congress did not want us to go to war against Germany because the Europeans have not even paid us monetary-wise for our involvement in WW1.
Another thing that kills me is that McArthur received the message to ‘stand down’ AND allow the Japs to attack when he had more than 10 submarines ready to sink the carriers at at a moment’s notice. The MESSAGE is shown in the appendix/back pages. All those Americans who were sacrificed

One of my dear friend’s dad was a Marine in the Pacific Theater. His division hated McArthur. They said that when McArthur wasn’t trying to get them killed, he was starving them (no rations, no logistics, they ate a lot of buggy rice left by the Japanese).
Patton was also told to stand down and even back up so that Russia could advance against Germany.
We knew that Russia was communist but our communists in DC wanted to give Russian communists the victory.

McArthur is the only known US general to BUG OUT and leave his troops to fight to the end. Horatio Gates at Camden was the closest but unlike the drama queen of McArthur.

What bunk. The Republicans were a minority ion Congress yet all voted for War after the attack on Pearl Harbor.
Interesting that Admiral Thomas Hart CIC of the Asiatic Fleet never got that message. He was ready and engaged the Japanese and did not lose one ship when the war broke out. Probably one of the most able and knowledgeable commanders we had in the Pacific. He violently disagreed on war strategy was relieved of command. Later became a U.S. Senator after the war. Was never given another sea command during the war. He should have been made CINPAC instead of Nimitz with all the experience he had.
