Former state Rep. Vernon Jones is narrowly leading his closest competitor, trucking company owner Mike Collins, in the Republican primary race for U.S. Congress in Georgia’s Tenth District, according to an internal poll obtained by Breitbart News.

The poll, conducted by Remington Research Group from April 10 to 11, found Jones four points ahead of Collins. Jones received 20 percent support compared to Collins’ 16 percent, while a plurality of respondents, 25 percent, said they were undecided.

Former Tenth District Rep. Paul Broun came in third at 15 percent, followed by state Rep. Tim Barr at seven percent and a few others at five percent or lower.

Yep, there would be a primary runoff.

Vernon has some ugly history from his Dem days that would come out in the general. A friend who was very involved in Trump’s minority outreach efforts in 2016 has been warning him about this guy for years.

If I lived in GA I’d voted for Collins.

Yes, Georgia has open primaries.

That's the only way Kemp and Raffensburger have a chance of winning their respective primaries. The Water Buffalo is running unopposed, so the Dems will rush in to vote for Kemp. After all, if the Water Buffalo loses, then the last thing the Dems want is a real republican in office.

The other day I got a mailer that highlighted a few of Jones’ problems. While I do like the guy and appreciate his support of President Trump, he got out of politics for a reason.

Corruption, bribes, sexual assault and a few other things have a way fondling that.

Yes. And that is a tactic they have been using for quite some time.

Just like the voting law passed last year, that didn’t really do all that much except codify 2 things: mail in voting and drop boxes, that weren’t law, one would think open primaries would be something they’d like to change. Nope. They love the corruption down here.

I haven’t yet decided between Jones and Collins. I do not hold the fact that Jones was a Democrat before switching parties against him. It was the party that moved away from his positions and he was man enough to admit it. He was so disgusted with the Democrats that he was going to resign but the GOP talked him into switching parties instead. Since then he has been very vocal and very supportive of conservatives issues and opinions. His votes reflect that.

I like Collins as well. He is a businessman from rural Georgia and knows the State well. He knows the issues rural Georgia voters are concerned with and he has been vocal about those issues for some time.

I always vote on election day and will make my final decision the week prior to that date.

Its hard to go with anyone selected or endorsed by Trump. His track record in picking turncoats makes me uneasy. I would go with Collins too over a ex-democrat who may have switched in order to have a real chance at winning. I kind of wish Trump would stay out of the endorsement business.

Wasn’t Ronald Reagan a former Democrat?
