For the fourth time and by the same 4-3 margin, the Ohio Supreme Court threw out Republican-drawn maps on Thursday for new state legislative districts as unfairly favoring Republicans.
The ruling gives the Ohio Redistricting Commission until May 6 to come up with an "entirely new" plan, more than seven months after state House and Senate maps were supposed to be in place.
Immediate reaction from the Republican majority in the General Assembly was muted, with John Fortney, Senate majority spokesman, saying only that they are "reviewing the opinion."
Chief Justice Maureen O'Connor, a Republican, again joined the court's three Democrats in overturning the maps. Some Republican legislators called for O'Connor's impeachment following her rejection of the previous set of maps, although her term expires at the end of this year.

In other words, the map won’t be acceptable until it’s gerrymandered to favor Democrats. That’s what the court is saying.
Somehow dims never seem to have a problem getting their maps approved.
what an absolute joke.
Pass it again and again.
Yes, indeed. Democrats draw their maps to please liberal judges and Republicans must also draw their maps to please liberal judges.
Crazed Judicial overreach.
Again and again.
Sounds like insanity.....
The Ohio SC thinks they are the legislature.
Maryland and New York both had the Congressional maps declared UnConstitutional.
Maryland resulted in new congressional maps.
New York is still in litigation,
in places where democrats gerrymand there is no equivalent court demands or court cases...
^^^^^^ THIS!
Ohio seems to have a court problem.
It’s Maureen O’Connor’s final few months on the Ohio Supreme Court. The Ohio State Constitution forces judges into mandatory retirement at aged 70, so she can’t seek reelection this November.
The court had ordered a de facto reduction in Republican districts by insisting on a proportion of seats that met Ohio voters' actual preferences in the last few elections. That breakdown is 54% Republican and 46% Democratic. Under the maps in place since 2012, Republicans hold a supermajority in both houses.
So, they're using a false proxy for "actual preferences" if the Republicans hold supermajorities, which indicates a strong preference.
They should still impeach and remove her. Republicans have supermajorities in Ohio. They should make a loud, clear statement on this insanity.
How could they logically impeach only her and not the other three that made the same ruling though?
“How could they logically impeach only her and not the other three that made the same ruling though?”
Because they are democrats and noone expects anything except bitter partisanship from democrat judges.
Ohio used to be known for the most contested election in American history (R. Hayes), but i think that may change after the 2000 mules plays out
Yup and gov
What is the use of having a supermajority if you don’t use it to impeach crooked judges? They should be impeaching them by the truckload.
Impeach all the ones who voted against this in one shot.
Even more reason to impeach her, so she loses her pension.
